Fantastic campsite. Always clean, can definitely get busy/booked out on the weekend. This spot #28 (along with #27 & #29) are pretty rocky, we barely fit two tents in the spot and one had a corner over a boulder in the ground. Bring tubes, the best spot is to go by group camp site 1 and start your river float all the way down the camp site, takes about 40 minutes, some fun little falls; nothing dangerous but will spill your beer

Always nice and clean and the campground grounds keeper was very courteous and helpful. The only issue w as the smog from the wildfires.

Camp host Linda was very rude to us the minute we got there. Felt like we weren't welcomed there and like if we were being watched all the time because we didn't agree with her irrational demands. It got to the point in where her supervisor had to be called. Throughout the weekend the restrooms were continuous dirty and without toilette paper. Her supervisor Aguilar made it all better for us. She accommodated us with a better campsite and showed us great spots at the river. Other than the camp host, everything else was good. The campground has been one of our favorites and the river is always fresh.

I had a mediocre experience at Camp Three, which is extremely disappointing because i had such high expectations. The site was full of trash in the fire pit, around the table and throughout site. Other campers did not respect the ‘quiet time’ and played their music loudly until the early morning (2-3am) with the camp host not doing a thing about it. Very lackluster time at Camp Three.

This camp site needs a booth to actually check people in and out of their camp sites. Showed up to my camp sites with people still camping my check in was at 2pm showed up at 4pm. Took the people 2hrs to leave. Very disappointed in the camp site hosts this time around.

Site 25 was fantastic, very spacious and good evening shade as well as fairly easy access to both the river and the toilets. Would love to come back and stay at the same site.

This site has a table and fire ring near the campsite parking area in direct sunlight. But a short way past the table is a great shaded area with plenty of room for a tent and a large screen tent that I think is essential for cooking to keep what I call grease bees at bay. Water faucet is close and the management group that runs the campground does a nice job maintaining the restroom. I've been coming to the upper Kern for 50 + years my recommendation is stay away from the place on weekends as it becomes party central for the younger crowd who have little regard for anyone but themselves. Weekdays are generally quiet and stress free.
Also in the past 3 years the skunk population has exploded and they really aren't bothered to much by us humans. They're annoying more than anything but can carry diseases such as plague and rabies.

There is an extra vehicle fee of $8.00/night on the 2nd vehicle in each single campsite and on the 3rd & 4th vehicle in any double campsite, provided these vehicles are not joined to the 1st vehicle by a hitch and towed onto the site. In the case of motorcycles, the 1st and 2nd are considered to be one vehicle and the 3rd and 4th are also considered to be one vehicle. So the fee would be a single $8.00/night of stay for the 3rd/4th motorcycle. |
