What Guests Are Saying
Deer Creek Campground offers a beautiful setting with clean facilities, friendly camp hosts, and great access to the lake, making it a popular choice for camping and outdoor activities. Many visitors appreciate the well-maintained campsites and ease of reserving spots online. However, some concerns were raised about limited restroom availability, occasional cleanliness issues, and the need for more campground options, particularly during busy seasons. Overall, it remains a cherished destination for many campers.

The setting is beautiful.
Unfortunately rec.gov can’t seem to fix toilets. There’s 3 out of 4 working toilets for both loops. I think that’s 23 sites. The fourth has been converted into a storage closet. Reason: “it’s hard to find plumbers.” They turn off the water on Wednesdays and direct you to toilets at the ramp. No notice posted the day before that this is the case. Picture a full bladder making it to the restroom and learning you need to go another half mile.
We and everyone else has a good time IN SPITE OF rec.gov but I sure wish care, custody, and control would go back to the Forest Service or whatever agency used to manage the campground.

Nice campground close to water. Some spots are close together so get ready to know you neighbors. Camp host was doing a great job of maintaining restroom as there is only one for whole campground. Lake is less crowded now (which was nice) as some of the bigger campgrounds are closed. Next year they are going to open. Lots of beetle damage in campgrounds(trees dying and having to be cut down) and around lake some fire damage. Overall great time.

Pros: Flat ground throughout our camp site, so you can setup your tent anywhere. Picnic table was not locked down, so you can move it wherever you wanted or where the shade was. Site is shaded by a tree on either side, which provided sufficient shade for warmer parts of the day. Fire pit was sunken into the ground, not too low but low enough to sit at night with a campfire. Drive way is long enough to fit two cars with extra room to spare. Close enough to the restroom, but not too close.
Cons: Sites are a little to close for comfort, but thankfully our neighbors left early. Otherwise, with all sites filled and everyone at their sites, it would feel a bit too crowded.

Ranchería Falls was a great little hike. Very pretty on the trail and at the waterfall.
Nice clean campsite #26; great neighbors shared their kayaks with us, super fun. Not very much shade in our campsite since so many trees are cut down. Good clean bathrooms.

It's a nice place, beautiful
But the forest is very burned out, lots of flies flying around during the day.

We love to visit this campground every year. The only real issue I have with it, is that there are only 4 bathrooms available to the whole campground and one of them has been out of order for the last few years. It would be great if that bathroom could be fixed.
