What Guests Are Saying
Deer Creek Campground offers a beautiful setting with clean facilities, friendly camp hosts, and great access to the lake, making it a popular choice for camping and outdoor activities. Many visitors appreciate the well-maintained campsites and ease of reserving spots online. However, some concerns were raised about limited restroom availability, occasional cleanliness issues, and the need for more campground options, particularly during busy seasons. Overall, it remains a cherished destination for many campers.

My stay was great. But...a Bear came both nights I was there getting into trash dumpster that was way too easy to get into. The dumpster had a latch I have never seen before. Just lift a handle and it was in. Knowing this, he is bound to cause harm at some point. Kings Canyon NP would have parked a bear trap next to it and re-located it. The CG host came by and every morning and cleaned up the mess. I see trouble ahead.

The campsite and bathrooms were very clean, had to find wood because the campground was sold out

Out campsite was #18 and it had the best views! Right next to the lake, clean campground, not too far from the restroom (which were very clean and stocked), and close to the host as well. Lots of parking right next to your campsite. We will definitely be returning!

Huntington Lake is always beautiful. Deer Creek campground is next to lake with nice paved walking trails around edge if water. Camp sites are nicely spaced apart. Within walking distance of the beach, Lakeshore store and bar, and close to China Peak Landing

Arrived 8/26 Saturday 3 Pm to gorgeous weather and perfect temperatures…. Sunday am nice n cool (43) but…. monday aside from the logging truck rolling by at 5:30 AM sounding like a jet landing, and, the contract tree trimmers for Edison firing up their wood chipper at 8am, oh, and the Black Hawk helio on tuesday at 7AM going “wop wop wop” from the blades breaking the sound barrier apparently dumping giant buckets of concrete by China Peak ….it was nice and peaceful at evening time. Restrooms were always clean and the host was great. Go see the old road below and so. west of the main dam, narrow but beautiful sights and big creek SCE station was a nice sight as well. the old road south ends at shaver lake and is always a nice drive back up to huntington. Drove the narrow road up to portal and Edison lake 8/30, wednesday, traffic light, road narrow, but good condition, meadows beautiful ( watch for migratory toads)….
write your government and ask for funds to open all the closed camp grounds due to “ falling trees” Upper deer creek has been closed for years, To Campers, But, not for contrators and others….🤔
and, it is one of the nicest grounds on the western sierra’s. A real shame. Overall 9/10

We enjoyed staying at this campground, yet when we arrived the bathrooms were not clean, and there no toilet tissue. By the time we left only 2 of the 4 bathrooms were working. 😕
Some of the guests were not really guests and were parking wherever they wanted. It was not the usual well maintained campground of past seasons

Camp host was horrible, only collected aluminum cans to load in his personal truck, restroom was disgusting and never cleaned properly. fire pits were inconsistent, some sunken in to the ground and some too high above the ground. Most of the time our camp host was not even present for multiple days. The overflow site was constantly filled while other pay sites were open. Most of the time the overflow site had more ant 15 people at a time in four to five tents. Music was incredibly loud all day long!!!! No consideration for other campers and of coarse the camp host did nothing. Funds need to be put into this campground to bring back to the way it was just a few years ago. I've been coming here since I was 5 years old (58 years). Open up the other campgrounds to relieve the pressure off of this camp ground.
