Summit Lake North is praised for its great location within Lassen National Park, offering scenic views, easy access to hiking trails, and a beautiful lake for swimming. The campground is well-maintained with clean bathrooms and a peaceful atmosphere, making it a favorite for visitors seeking a relaxing camping experience. However, some sites are closely spaced and lack shade, which may affect privacy and comfort.

Lovely place between the trees and just at the edge of the Dixie fire forest. Very spacious campsites and appreciated the possibility to wash the dishes away from our own campground.

Love North Summit campground. Was very excited because Bumpus Hell opened 2 days before we arrived. Unfortunately we had to evacuate because of the Park Fire. Kings Creek Fall hike is a wonderful hike. Was hard seeing all the burned trees from the Dixie Fire in 2021. Campground is very clean and nice. The roads are very nice.

Staying near Summit Lake is great -- you get fantastic access to the lake, good birding, and are near some of the park's great geology -- I highly recommend a visit to the nearby Devastated Area, for example. Summit Lake North campground has some flush toilet facilities unlike Summit Lake South which has pit toilets. Note there is no electric lighting though in the restrooms -- bring your flashlight! The site I was in this trip was pleasantly shaded and reasonably private. Great experience.
