Great campsite! Clean, close to everything, and perfect for a quiet stargazing night!

Lassen National Park is awesome, even after the extensive fire damage. However, we were extremely disappointed in our campsite in the South Summit Lake campground. We have a travel trailer that is 22 ft from bumper to hitch. We had site D11 that was described as being 24 feet long. It wasn’t possible to get our trailer into this site. Basically the loop is backwards, so the angle of the space makes it impossible to back in. Even if we could have somehow managed that, there was no room for our slide out or awning or our truck. We found someone in the North campground who also couldn’t get in to their space, and we stayed there for 2 nights, but then had to leave.
The descriptions on these campsites are NOT ACCURATE !

Great location, lots of hikes nearby and Summit lake was fun to float on and cool off after our hikes. Bathrooms were clean. If you have 2 cars the hike from Terrace lake to Summit Lake is easy, mostly downhill, beautiful, and not burned.

This campsite (E06) had the steepest parking space I have ever seen. This was not evident from the photo provided. The steepness of the parking space made it very difficult to open and close vehicle doors, and to load and unload camping equipment. I would not recommend this site.
