Amazing campground on the hills, quieter, spacious, nice camp host. I received very weak service with Verizon. Couldn’t turn on generator one loop which dint make sense to me, hope they change that. Dogs are not allowed in the lake which is such bullshit, it is actually entire Lassen do not allow dogs in trails even with leash, how the heck dogs can’t be allowed in wilderness which is absurdly stupid. But Lassen is super terrific will be returning again before end of summer

Clean, quiet campground.
There's a trail on the east side of the lake. Go about halfway on the trail and you get a view of Mt. Lassen. We did it at 6 am for sunrise view.

Campground was packed. We were surprised because we stayed at manzanita campground the night before which was practically empty.
Pit toilets are clean, lots of trees for hammocks, fire pit and bear locker present.

We greatly enjoyed our 2 night visit. The bathrooms are tidy and fresh smelling and the campsites and general area are also tidy. The campsites are big enough so you have some privacy. Ours backed up on the lake so we had a chance to enjoy some pretty sunset views. Would definitely come back.

Great spot, especially when escaping the heat of Redding.

Beautiful and well maintained campsites, and a few offer a lot of privacy. The trash is collected often and the bathrooms are clean. The woodchips spread across the ground at the campsites keep the areas from getting dusty and dirty. Good flat places to pitch a tent. The fire rings are a very nice addition as it gets cold at night. There are hikes right off Summit Lake to Echo Lake and Twin Lakes and even further if you want to hike to Cinder Cone. The swimming in Summit Lake is wonderful, especially on a hot day. We were there in August and the water was refreshing, but not too cold that we couldn't swim. The drive to the camp store at Manzanita doesn't take long and you can get excellent soft serve ice cream there. If you want more quiet and less crowds, Summit Lake camp ground is the best.
