Nice place to chill. Very small campground. 1 loop. Very primitive. Vault toilets and a pump for water.
River is fun. Refreshing. Also nice to go to Gould Park (exit 165, then right and right). Rocks on Hampshire Rocks Rd. nice.
It's not fancy. No planned activities like Thousand Trails. Make your own fun. :)
Road noise from I-80 dies down at night and almost sounds like the Ocean. :)

You can hear the freeway but that didn't bother us as it was a constant sound. So keep that in mind if you are sensitive to sounds. For me I never really noticed it till we talked about it as it was just a background noise.
The river is very nice to swim in. Several swimming holes around the campground. Definitely want to come back.

The traffic on the highway that was 20 feet from our tent never died down enough to make the trip enjoyable.

Campsite is fine. Served its purpose for a stop through on a trip. One downside is you hear the interstate, since it is in close proximity. Seemed there was tree clearing at a number of the sites had logs stacked about.

Camp hosts did a good job keeping the area serviceable but noise from the interstate ruins the experience. I would consider this a last resort option.

it sounds like interstate 80 runs directly through the camp site. We will not be camping here again. Our neighbors left because of this and they were in a trailer. We were tent camping so all you could hear is traffic the whole weekend. You have to talk over the traffic.

Pulled up after 9pm to my site only to find someone camped there. Not cool. Fortunately there were other sites available and camp host was on site to offer up another option. That said, this should have never happened in the first place. Site poachers are lame and camp host needs to check the daily roster to avoid this happening again.

Loved the campsite we were in .BUT.....our biggest complaint was the freeway noise, which is 24 hours a day. We had a great spot on the river. Our granddog loved being able to swim there. Out house bathrooms were clean. Hardly saw the camp host. Sites needed to be marked if taken as it confused people.

Highway noise was very loud. We still made the best of the experience though.

From Truckee, Calif., take Highway 80 west 17 miles. Take the Rainbow/Big Bend exit. If westbound, turn left under the freeway to the campground entrance. If eastbound, turn right at the stop sign.
