What Guests Are Saying

Union Flat offers a beautiful location near the Yuba River, with clean bathrooms and pleasant tree cover, making it a lovely spot for relaxation. However, some sites, especially near Highway 49, experience noise from traffic and late-night mountain bikers, leading to a crowded atmosphere. Additionally, the lack of potable water and limited cell service were notable downsides for visitors.

Pros- Beautiful area, spaced reasonably apart, up against Yuba river , nice tree coverage, clean bathrooms.
Cons- Very close to the highway with occasional race cars and pocket rockets. Water for campers was shut off. Non- poisonous snakes in the river. Though my wife got a cool video of one eating a trout.

Loved being right next to the river. Site 6 was a little small for 2 tents but we made it work. Mosquitos were very bad for June and no running water made the trip not fun but overall loved it!

its nice but don't trust the first come first serve rule. there is no camp host so bring your own toilet paper and the reserve signs are lacking. with no cell phone reception or no number to call its hard to contact anyone with any problems.

I was extremely disappointed that my reserved site was not reserved. The river/creek was not as close as the photos made it appear.

The toilets were very well cleaned on a regular basis, a lot better than previous years. The cleaners do a great job.

Water supply not working, would have been good to know this before we got there.

No potable water available on site. Recreation.gov site lists drinking water as available, but none on site on arrival

A total let down! Got stuck at this campsite because the nice campground Loganville up the street was full. This site is located 25 feet from Highway 49 so plenty of traffic noise. It's small and only one dirt road (no loop) so everyone that drives in looking for a spot turns around and drives by again dusting out every set-up campsite, Total dust fest! Plenty of partying going on in many of the sites if that's what your into. We actually had someone in the middle of the night mistake our tent for there's and began to enter our tent until I yelled. I'd stayed here again if they gave me a $1000 dollars.

Very few places to find a level spot for a tent. Very few spots for a tent that aren't completely rocky. This campground is located on a site where tons of rocks from the river bed have been displaced (on to the current campground area) for industrial gold mining purposes. It's also just a few yards away from the highway traffic.

Clean campgrounds, the bathrooms were well stocked with TP and kept clean. The sound of the rushing water in the river was very lulling. In a great location to explore Downieville, Sierra City and the Lakes Basin.
