The area is beautiful! Bathrooms are well maintained. However...the camp itself is way too close to the street. And the camp host, not sure her name, was not a pleasant person. She always seemed annoyed when we had a question

Wheeler Gorge is one of my favorite campgrounds in Ventura County. The camp hosts were helpful, the site is well maintained, several hikes just a short drive away. We liked site 38 because it was near the creek and almost like having two sites.

Wheeler Gorge certainly lived up to its billing as a ‘primitive’ campground. However, we came prepared and enjoyed our camp spot next to a babbling brook replete with frogs to serenade us as night fell. B sure to bring everything you need for your stay.
If you get desperate, Ojai is only a short drive away.

Loved our spot! Secluded from other campsites and close to the restrooms! No cellular reception, great to get away and unplug!

We stayed in site 27. It was a perfect spot, right next to the creek. Only 1 neighbor. Close to the road so you could hear some cars passing by. Lots of Mosquitos so that wasn't great. But your camping by a creek so its somewhat expected. The campgrounds are clean. Vault toilets are decent. No running water but they clearly say that on the website. Overall a great spot for a night or 2.

Absolutely no cell service. Prepare yourself.
Camp hosts are awesome and very helpful.
We had site 47. It was okay, but close to the main road and you could hear cars.
Campsites are decent sized, but some are close together.
Keep an eye out for poison oak.

Campsite is beautiful, clean and peaceful. Was there right after the rain storm and the stream was running and the frogs were chirping all night long. We’ll definitely come back again.

Wheeler Gorge is a great place to camp with young campers. My granddaughters 8 and 9 had a great time. The people working as camp hosts were very helpful and professional.
