It was closed due to a fire and had been closed for two months, Recreation.gov didn't let me know in fact I booked it a couple of weeks before I was due to go, go there and couldn't get in as the gate was locked, the fire station told me it had been closed due to fires two months prior. to top it off they won't give me a refund. Super annoyed

We lucked out with perfect weather, no bugs and no people. Enjoyed a hike to the top of the butte. Wish we could have stayed longer. Would have given it the highest rating except they are having a water issue and so the toilets were closed.

Miss very much the check-in procedure that appears abandoned by the Bureau. Now we have to do the job of the check-in host to prevent getting a ticket for camping without a window notice. Also, seeing the new tajmahal temple (the new office) on the way to the campsite can be easily viewed as why there is no longer money to keep the restrooms functional and keep the host process open.
Overall the camping site and the lake were in good shape and fun was had by all, but the administration of the existing rules and lack of enforcement causes some concern.

I love Buckhorn in the Spring but I’ve noticed over the past five years of going here it is getting neglected and not kept up. The nice bathrooms and hot shower were awesome. Now the bathrooms are closed, locked up, porta potties to replace them. It used to have a camp host at the gate. Now nobody and I think I saw the Ranger once in three days come by. And for the last few years they’ve had the generator running at the boat dock. When are you going to get that fixed? The asphalt roads are nice to have but they are getting cracked, potholes, and weeds. Please do what is necessary to fix Buckhorn up. I love this place and hate seeing it neglected.

Very sad to see the bathroom locked and out houses in place??? Miss the park host, not the same atmosphere as in the past.

I stayed the night in campsite 14 and I woke up to sound of a person driving a 4 wheel ATV around the campground spraying herbicide on the grass in the road cracks and along the sides of the road right where I was parked for the night. I departed promptly.

General
- Limited Sanitation Facilities Due to ongoing sanitation infrastructure issues, flushing toilets and showers will not be available. Portable restrooms and handwashing stations will be in place to support public health and safety. These facilities will be located near existing restroom areas. Potable water and dump stations will remain available for visitor use.
- Vehicle Pass Info: Each campsite allows up to 4 vehicles* (up to 40 vehicles for group use area). Please print your reservation or write your reservation # and the reserved camper’s last name, and place it on the dashboard of each vehicle while in the recreation area. (*Please note: 4 vehicles may not fit within each campsite’s parking area.)
- Please adhere to all road signs. Traffic for sites 1 through 22 is one way in, one way out. All vehicles must face with the flow of traffic in case of an emergency.
- There are no electric/water/sewer hookups. A dump station and water filling station is available.
- No fireworks allowed
- No off-road vehicles
- Entrance gates close at 10 pm from April 1 through Sept. 30th.
- Don't Move Firewood: Protect your forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. Visit Dontmovefirewood.org for further information.
