The Army Corps of Engineers is a noteworthy organisation, but Buckhorn Lake park does not reflect this. The bathrooms are foul, the showers are more or less unusable, the water pressure is low, and many of the bathrooms have only emergency lighting. The tables are effaced and could use a good cleaning. The railings and steps are decayed. Yes, it is cheap, 20 dollars, and formerly 18 dollars a night, but one does not want to stay since it is so dismal.

The sites were awesome! However, the toilet facilities were not! The bathrooms ran out of toilet paper on the second day of our trip and we had to go into town to buy some for the next two days. One of the toilets in the main bathrooms was clogged in the men's bathroom and unusable. No one came around to check them or clean during the period we were there.
On the bright side we didn't allow that to affect our time there and had an amazing time! The sites were clean and the camp was awesome!! We will be back again!! One of our favorite places to visit!! Thank You!!

The Buckhorn Recreation Area is a quiet and convenient place for an overnight stay, especially for those visiting Lassen Volcanic National Park. Although there is no electricity at the campsite, this doesn’t pose a significant issue for most visitors. The facilities include a clean restroom with water and lighting, as well as a shower room, which adds convenience to the stay.
It’s worth noting that only one area within the campground allows for car camping, so be mindful of this when making reservations. The lack of generator noise contributes to a peaceful atmosphere, making it easy to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings.
Overall, Buckhorn Recreation Area is a great option for a tranquil overnight experience close to nature, with easy access to essential amenities.

There was a large generator being used by the campground operators at Buckhorn. It was terribly noisy and forced us to move to escape the noise. Greatly impacted our experience in a negative way.

After parking in space 13 at Buckhorn as we had several times over the last 17 years, we were told that that we had to reposition in the opposite direction. This put our door on the street side instead of the 'picnic' side with a view of the dump site instead of the lake. VERY DISAPPOINTING! Or we could search for another site online. So we will not be using 13 again.

Beautiful surprise of a campground. Almost empty of people. Good stargazing . Water level low in October. Clean bathrooms. Many of the sites are not level at all, but we moved to am empty level site after talking to the host.

It would have been really nice to know that the water and electric were shut off before we arrived. It was especially disappointing to find out it had been off for TWO MONTHS before our reservation.
