What Guests Are Saying
Pinnacles Campground offers a beautiful natural setting with a variety of wildlife, well-maintained facilities, and easy access to numerous hiking trails, including the highly recommended Bear Gulch Cave trail. Campers appreciate the clean restrooms, hot showers, and generally private sites, making for a relaxing experience. While some noted issues with limited facilities and the presence of raccoons, overall, guests found the campground enjoyable and a great base for exploring the stunning landscapes of Pinnacles National Park.

The hikes are amazing the birds are incredible. We were lucky enough to have a condo Door sewing right in front of us not 30 feet away

The park has very insufficient parking for the trailheads. We ended up adding like 4 miles total to our day just because of lack of space (the west entrance was closed, and the east parking lots are tiny).
But the hikes are worth it--the caves are super-neat and not too long, and the views are gorgeous. We were there in mid November and got surprisingly warm weather (over 80 degrees). The hikes here are all about the vast views of the unique mountains, so pick a cooler time to hike them due to the lack of shade on most of the trails.
Campground: get a spot away from the road for more shade (but more aggressive wildlife). This campground only has one set of showers by the camp store with 2 stalls per gender, and much sparser bathrooms than most campgrounds. Be prepared for this. Also check the fire warnings--this was the first time we were not allowed fires even in the fire rings, so good thing we brought a Coleman stove.
We booked late and so got a camping spot near the group sites which was very wide and flat, and loud due to the road and the group nearby, but we still had deer, turkeys, quail, and other animals just hanging out doing their thing right next to us. Both times I stayed here (May and Nov) the campground was loud humans at night. Bring earplugs if you sleep early (also if you want to sleep in, the birds put on a show at dawn too!)
Overall, so grateful that I'm able to see these rock formations, and even with absolutely stuffed parking lots, the trails do not seem busy.

Great location for Dark Sky trailer camping with 30 amp power. Perfect for my Astrophotography gear and overnight imaging. Nice little Market and pool to enjoy.

Great campground! Good location, clean, close to cool thing to do. Even has swimming pool! Campsites are not equal, some are too small and too close to the road, some are larger and more secluded. Some are shaded, some are in direct sun all the day (which could be a big problem during warmer months). We were in 17 A, which was great! Large, next to water spigot, close, but no too close to the restrooms, and a short walk to showers and the poll.
Warning: the entire C-loop, while located in more secluded area and has a lot of shade, lacks normal restrooms. Only port-a-potties, without running water; which is a deal breaker for me. It is also too far away from the showers and swimming pool, you may take a rather long walk or just bike/drive to them.
Showers: clean, free, but only two shower stalls per gender, which may cause lines during popular times.
Weather: I don't know how people manage to camp here in summers. Way too hot. We were there between October and November, and it was still too hot during the day (up to 29°C or 84°F - yay, swimming pool!), but also rather cold at night (6°C or 43°F). But any later than that and you may get into rainy season which is not too pleasant either. May be we should try spring.
Problem: raccoons. No even like that: RACCOONS! We were aware of them and were trying to do all the right things (keep food and garbage inside the car or animal-proof storage provided, but we did not expect them to start ransacking our car when we literally were unpacking in the evening. They are mostly active during sunset and sunrise.
Reservations are hard to get for the weekends, so plan in advance. Enjoy!

Fantastic place to stay, plenty to do around the camp for a few days. Great wildlife and hiking, was lucky enough to visit during sunny weather in early November. Would recommend hiking to Balconies cave, then down to the Viewpoint on Condor Gulch Trail, continuing down to watch the sun set at Bear Gulch Reservoir.

Well managed park. Trails were well maintained. Restrooms were clean, well supplied and working well. The only issue was that at night, the automatic light went off too fast and no hot water for the faucets, except in the shower facility. There was a good selection of campsites, from wide open, not too many trees, to quite private with lots of trees. Very comfortable camp sites.
