What Guests Are Saying
Dinkey Creek offers a beautiful natural setting with excellent hiking opportunities and friendly camp hosts who provide helpful service. The campground is well-maintained, and many visitors appreciate the spacious campsites and clean facilities. However, issues such as the lack of functioning flush toilets and potable water have caused some inconveniences, alongside noise from generators and nearby campers. Overall, many families enjoy returning to this campground for its charm and the memorable experiences it provides.

I was disappointed that there were no maps of Old Mill Trail (starting between sites 8 and 10 of the B loop) and the Overlook Trail (just north of the C loop). The ranger on duty at the kiosk had never been on the Old Mill Trail and couldn't tell us how to pick up the trail and if it was well-marked or if we should cross the creek. So, we skipped that and opted to drive to the Dinkey Mill Work Center instead. We later learned that it would have been an easy hike, and you just cross the creek. The Overlook Trail is not well-marked and difficult to pick up from the trailhead. Maps of the trails would be really helpful. Or, it would be great to put out a concerted effort for volunteers to mark the trails.

Great spot to camp in the mountains. Staff was friendly and the facilities were clean. A great place to camp with the family.

We found that our spot (E39) was the worst camp site in the loop. There was no other access to the bathroom for the loop other than through our camp site. Also, the amount of noise and light that was present at our site was a bit ridiculous. I would recommend (1) eliminating the camp site and creating pathways to the bathroom instead. If not I would recommend (2) providing alternative routes around the site (with signage) to the bathroom.

The campground was beautiful with lots of space for the kids to play. Bathrooms were well kept and clean.
The only complaint is the dust/dirt. Around the fire ring and picnic table was just dirt. It got into and covered everything flying up as we walked. My suggestion is to bring an outdoor rug or 3 to keep the dust down

The campground is clean and free of litter. The bathrooms are very clean. Unfortunately it is just too crowded at the creek, there are too many people.

We have been coming back to Dinkey Creek for over 20 years now. It has been a fond family tradition that we will continue to enjoy for many more years to come. We love exploring new spots to swim in the creek. The workers are always nice and friendly. Our camp host was extra helpful as he let us borrow his jumper cables because the kids left the car light on and the car battery died. Don't forget to visit the saw mill, its a great easy hike with small kids. Pack some fruit, cheese and crackers and spend a day at Shaver Lake. They rent boats too.
