About Manzanita Lake Camping Cabins (CA)

Situated near the northwest entrance to the park, the rustic Manzanita Lake Camping Cabins offer convenience and comfort in the scenic setting of Lassen Volcanic National Park. These 20 cabins are the first new accommodations in Lassen Volcanic National Park since 1972, and are available in three models: 2 Room, 1 Room, and Bunkhouse. They are within walking distance of Manzanita Lake, a popular catch & release fishing and family destination, and offer a view of 10,457-foot Lassen Peak, the largest volcano in the park. The cabins are located one mile south of the park entrance, perched at an elevation of 5,890 feet and adjacent to a 179-site campground. The Loomis Museum, Loomis Ranger Station and popular hiking trails are nearby. Educational programs are presented at the museum and amphitheater within the campground.    Groceries, supplies, gifts, gasoline, laundromat and hot showers are located at the nearby Manzanita Lake Camper Store. Our cafe features a variety of delicious and healthy items including salads, fresh fruits, hot or cold sandwiches, espresso drinks and soft-serve ice cream. Kayak and paddle board rentals are also available on a first come, first serve basis at the Camper Store.  A map of our cabins can be viewed under additional information or on our website, www.lassenlodging.com.  Follow us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/ManzanitaLake.

Nice, well kept, basic cabins. A great for a break from tent camping. Area was super quiet overnight. Overall Lassen is a very under appreciated park.

I changed cabins after 1 night - very difficult to do as no-one at the campground or at Recreation.gov could help. Eventually I was told to cancel the first booking and make a new booking. I managed to change and booked new accommodation at the campground for the same period as the original booking. I was promised a refund for the 4 nights unused from my first booking. Two weeks later the refund has not been processed. I have had to pay twice for 4 nights accommodation. I am not commenting on the campground or facilities just that Recreation.gov does not have a reasonable process for making changes to bookings - even if your cabin is damaged, you would have to make a new booking and it seems Recreation.gov will not refund the original

The cabin was rustic as advertised, but was clean and fresh. I would like to see more substantial and comfortable chairs for the porch and table. It was a good location and I would recommend the stay.

Manzanita Cabins are a lovely place to spend a few days relaxing and enjoying the out-of-doors. Then only drawbacks I find iare that there is no internet service available for campers. This is inconvenient when you have family that needs to be able to contact you in emergencies. Also, the cabin we rented was supposed to sleep 3, however, there was only one full-sized bed, which meant one of us had to sleep on the hard floor. The online information should state what sleeping accommodations are in each cabin so campers can come prepared. Otherwise, this camping experience will become an annual tradition for us as we had such a wonderful time.

Manzanita camping cabins are a gem. Try and get the 2 room ones as people who snore can be segregated and the door closed on them.

Horrific toilets and rampant price-gouging: those are the two things that stand out to me when I think of Manzanita Lake cabins in the Lassen National Forest. The cabins had rock-hard "mattresses" and were overrun with insects. Two nights there seemed like two months of jail time.

Good place to stay. Cabins not too close to each other, water and toilets nearby. Easy access to the lake, unfortunately the kayak rentals weren't operating during our stay. Stayed 3 nights / 2 1/2 days in the park. Be sure to keep your door closed - the first night a mouse got into our cabin; kept us up half the night, couldn't get it out until morning(!)
