We stayed at the cabin #17 which is an 8 person cabin with bunker beds (basically 4 two storied beds in four corner, there are no other space in the cabin other than the small area in the middle of the beds). The beds had 3 inch mattresses. The mattresses were wrapped with something leather-y. Make sure you take bed sheets and pillows. The cabin had a lamp but it was pretty dim. Would suggest bringing your own lamp. These cabins got propane heater. The heat can make you feel a little suffocated if you have many people in the cabin. We were all sweating in the middle of the night and had to turn off the heating and keep the window slightly open. But other than that the site was pretty nice. It had a standard picnic table and a fire pit. There are pit toilets and cleaning station in close proximity. There was a sink by the toilet which didn't work. There is a store a minute away from the cabin where you can find snacks, drinks, firewood, ice etc. You can see the lake from outside of the cabin and the walk around the lake was pretty nice.

This is a great place to camp. We went to several national parks this trip and this one was my kids favorite. Has mountains, lakes, hydrothermal activity like Yellowstone, volcanoes, etc. And it is not nearly as busy as the others.

I love the park, especially manzanita lake, quiet, less crowded, lots of birds in the morning.
There is no kayaks rental this year, our family enjoyed it very much in the past.
Some part of the trails are not very visible, partial because of the ashes from last year’s fire, or maybe we are the first few groups of visitors. It will be nice if there are more signs on the way.
Be aware to those burned trees, have the feeling that some of them may fall one day.

Manzanita Lake cabins are wonderful! It was great to sleep inside on a bed, yet still go outdoors for everything else. The bunk bed foam cushions are firm, but still comfortable. Having the store and $5 showers close by the camp site is a definite bonus. Taking the 1.8 mile walk around the lake is a must, and easy enough for all. One thing to note: There is a $30 PER CAR entry fee to the park ABOVE AND BEYOND the reservation. This really should be information provided on the reservation web site. Luckily they take credit cards.

Easy checkin system, peaceful clean cabins close to the lake and hiking. Great place to base out of to explore the park.
