William Kent Campground is praised for its beautiful location near Lake Tahoe, clean facilities, and friendly, helpful staff. Many visitors enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, spacious sites, and convenient access to biking trails and local restaurants. William Kent campground is very well maintained and managed. The host we interacted with was lovely and very helpful. The toilet areas were very well maintained and there were also ample faucets for water supply. The campsites were spacious and there were many trees to provide shade, as well as opportunities to sling some hammocks. The only drawback to this campground that it seems like the property line backs-up against some nearby private properties on two sides, which doesn't make it seem as woodsy and away from civilization as you'd hope to feel at a campsite. This is only a very small gripe and does not hinder the experience much in a negative way. It is also a very short walk to the beach and a couple places to eat if you feel like taking a break from cooking at your site.

Despite being a larger campground, the forested and hilly nature of the property allows for a relatively intimate and private feel. Access to the water across the street was perfect for our needs, but the beach is truly a small sliver of waterfront, thus in COVID times it is difficult to relax too much in that space.

The experience at this campground was amazing! We camped here to celebrate my Girl-Friend's birthday around July 4th weekend and it didn't disappoint. Very close to the Beach. Bathrooms are not too bad, flush is always a plus point. Lots of beautiful birds and bats close by. Its a very good place for stargazing as well. The proximity to Tahoe City and north part of Lake Tahoe is very appealing.

My only complaint is the number of RVs in the campground can suffocate you when you are moving in or out. This happens because the angle of the parking is conducive for reverse parking which means big vehicles especially RVs would take substantial time holding up main road space. Though this does not take anything away from my 5 star review of my campsite.

Pretty good campsites but water is only available near entrance. Beach is across hwy 28. No parking available, so count on carrying your beach stuff from the campsite.

William Kent Campground was well maintained by friendly hosts. The restrooms were new and immaculate - flush toilets and sink but no shower facilities. The camp is surrounded by towering mature pine trees so offers ample shade throughout. The campground is largely carved into a hill but offers flat tent areas and car spaces. We stayed at Site 63 which is closest to the entrance, also close to the water spigot and restrooms. We were able to fit 2 tents (6-man and 2-man) and a shower tent in our space. The campground is surrounded by vacation homes all along the perimeter so their backyards are directly adjacent to campsites. I would highly recommend securing sites on the interior of the loops. The William Kent Beach across the street is very small and sandwiched between marinas/boats. So perhaps only best for some sand play for smaller children or brief visit rather than a long day on the lake. The greatest advantage of William Kent is that it is located across the street from a lakefront restaurant (outdoor dining was open during the pandemic), and market/deli as well as a short walk to two cafes. The super friendly Westside Market & Deli is across the street for coffee, sandwiches and upscale snacks and supplies.

We were in Yurt 002 which had a very large flat site away from the road surrounded by several tall pines trees that created a sense of privacy. The beds in the yurt were very comfortable. The mattress is enclosed in a thick dark green vinyl cover, like seats on a school bus. The restroom was directly behind the yurt, but far enough that it wasn't an issue. There is no soap or paper towels in the restroom, so bring your own. Across the campground on the other side of Hwy 89 is the public beach access for Wm. Kent but the waterfront beach is tiny. There is also an all in one deli, coffee, desserts and mini grocery store across from the campground. You must do the 3 hour long Truckee River rafting trip, it's totally worth it!
