What Guests Are Saying
Meeks Bay Resort is praised for its beautiful location near Lake Tahoe, clean facilities, and friendly staff, making it a favorite spot for families and campers. Many visitors enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, lovely beach, and well-maintained campsites, with some returning for decades. However, there are concerns about noise from nearby roads and overcrowding at campsites, along with issues related to staffing and amenities that could use improvement.

Their system was extremely disorganized and more expensive than most. One set of the restrooms was out of order and abandoned. I do like that it’s close to the beach.

Loved staying here. Camp sites are a good size. Did see a bear on our first night. Showers are on the other side where the lodges are at behind the general store near the creek. They were clean. Definitely will be coming back.

Meeks Bay is one of the best beaches on the lake in my opinion, being able to camp here close to the water is amazing. What isn't amazing is the way this place is managed. Booking a site is a terrible, with having to place a down payment followed by a second payment 30 days before arrival seems needlessly complicated and scammy. New policy dictates that no RV/trailers allowed on the south side of the creek, so if you like dry camping you're out of luck and are forced to pay inflated rates for hook up sites you don't need or want. If you want to go from the south to the north or back you have to walk on the highway or swim, no more crossing in the marina. The no dogs policy is ridiculous, and no staff is to be found when needed. We had questions about the site and called weeks before arrival, we got conflicting information from staff when we arrived, they said "you didn't call us because we never answer the phone". I've been visiting Meeks for over 35 years and sadly I think this was the last time camping here.

Not a nature site, but a a place to park to go to the beach or bike. Crowded RV campsites.

My campsite was clean, close to the lake.
The park resident ranger was very friendly and helpful. He even let me use his electricity outlet to charge my phone for an emergency call.
The only downside is that there are no no showered in the South side and no electricity either.

The only thing we didn’t like was this campsite was a little too close to the highway. Bathrooms were always well stocked. Meeks bay for swimming is amazing. We loved it and will come back again.

Huge waste of money! We talked to several of our neighbors who claimed the property was under new management and that could explain the lack of care the place had. The camp host was not on site for the entirety of our stay (4 nights). There was 0 authority on the grounds and we were never asked who we were or to check in! We noticed multiple cars would enter the grounds around 11 pm and park anywhere they wanted. Since there was no host, guests were loud and having fires when there was a fire ban and a "High Fire Danger" in the area. It felt unsafe and not managed at all. The site claims you will be at Meeks Bay Resort, but if you are in a tent spot of 15+ you will actually be in an entirely different area. They claim to have showers but you must drive to the actual resort to use them (make sure its before 5pm or you will be unable to purchase shower tokens). Staff was rude and unprofessional. We were unable to check in until our third night because there was no staff on our grounds and we kept receiving incorrect information. The only plus side to the site is the extremely close proximity to Lake Tahoe. However, I would recommend finding a different site if comfort, professionalism, and upkeep is something you value. Extremely disappointed in the new ownership.

For the past several years now, Meeks Resorts is one of the places the family must go during summer! Love the resort and the staff members are friendly and helpful. Can’t wait to go again!
