What Guests Are Saying
Azalea Campground offers a beautiful and spacious setting, ideally located near Grant Grove and various hiking trails, including those to the General Sherman Tree. The campground is well-maintained, featuring clean restrooms, fresh water, and friendly park staff, contributing to a peaceful and relaxing experience. While some sites may be uneven and restrooms are a bit distant for some, the overall atmosphere, wildlife sightings, and access to nature make it a memorable destination.

I have visited this campground many times. the only issue I have had is when I need to pay for a camp site on a first come first served basis on Recreation.gov. The internet connection is poor, and I can't finish paying for my site. The park ranger at the Grant Grove visitor's center was able to help me complete the pay process.

Sites were first come, first serve. I tried getting a site Thursday, but they were all taken. Went up Friday morning at 8am, and site 34 was available. We stayed Friday through Monday. Expected an inch of snow, but got 6 inches of snow. The kids loved it! Had a blast. Even did some sledding in the campground. Spectrum mobile has reception, even good enough to stream a bedtime movie for the kids. The only thing was that site 34 was very unlevel. Lowered my RV almost to the frame in the front and was still 8 inches high. No dump facilities and no fresh water. Went to lodgepole campground to get water. That campground was closed, but the water bottle refil spiget on the bathroom behind the old house was working and was able to fill my 6 gallon portable jug.

We camped in the snow. The bathrooms were open with running water. No electricity, there appeared to be a snapped electrical line. We took headlights to the bathroom with us. The campground was checked on a few times a day. The store and restaurant were open during the day. It was a great place to set up for our time in the park.
