What Guests Are Saying
Sunset Campground is praised for its beautiful sunset views, clean facilities, and convenient location near major attractions in Sequoia and Kings Canyon. Many visitors enjoyed the serene atmosphere, ample hiking opportunities, and friendly staff. However, some noted issues with noise from neighboring sites and varying site sizes, which could impact the camping experience. Overall, it's a lovely spot that many would return to despite a few drawbacks.

Went with a group of 30… overall we loved this site! Bathrooms were close, we were next to group b and while we could see them within view we had plenty privacy and space between their site and ours. Plenty of shade and the site is enormous. Two fire pits with grills attached. Potable water. Rangers were not there most days but they did check in on the site earlier in the day. It was not crowded in the park and plenty parking for our group and was just a few feet from our site so loading was easy. Plenty of trees surrounding the site so its not like we were staring at the parking lot. We were just
Off the highway so sometimes we would hear a car but it was very quiet usually. We saw a bear 20 ft from our site on our last day there! Bear kept its distance. Weather was great- it does get cold in the mornings and at night so pack to stay warm at night. Highly recommend this place for families with kids. Safe and great spot!! Also its a short drive to the main attractions we carpooled in 4 cars and made it lodgepole in 40 mins and it goes fast with the beautiful scenic drive (with traffic or road work- could be a much longer drive ). Psa:
-bring hiking shoes (you will not regret it)
- use the park map!!
- No cell service throughout the entire trip ( for half our group who had att provider but those with verizon were able to make calls. Weird!! )
- It truly is the wild and emergencies can happen in a snap- one of our parties got lost for 6 hrs trying to find the campsite with no service and another individual was badly injured and saved by an amazing samaritan who contacted the rangers with their walkie. I so very highly recommend getting walkies or satellite phones some way to communicate with your party during your drive and hikes - SUPER important for safety anything can happen.
