What Guests Are Saying
Sunset Campground is praised for its beautiful sunset views, clean facilities, and convenient location near major attractions in Sequoia and Kings Canyon. Many visitors enjoyed the serene atmosphere, ample hiking opportunities, and friendly staff. However, some noted issues with noise from neighboring sites and varying site sizes, which could impact the camping experience. Overall, it's a lovely spot that many would return to despite a few drawbacks.

We got the best site (#35) at the campground to watch the sunset and the moon. The only bad thing is, you can see the city lights from Fresno. The bathrooms need to be cleaned better. They were smelly and not well maintain by the maintenance crew.

Great location, cool temperatures during the heatwave. Close to a market and a bunch of great Kings Canyon sites. Loved our time here!

We spent three nights at campsite 81 and really enjoyed it. Except for all the yellow-jackets when you try to eat outside during the day, but that's standard for summer. On the north side of the site there is a rise and some big boulders that give you a bit of seclusion. And on the west side there is a great, expansive view. One thing about that view: at night, you can see the San Joaquin Valley all lit up. I was pretty surprised the first night when I saw it. We didn't mind, it was actually kind of pretty. And it didn't seem to diminish the night sky, we still had great stargazing. But if you're looking to "get away from it all," this might not be the ideal campsite for you. The lights aren't visible unless you walk to the edge of the site and stand on a couple of large rocks--and I don't think you can see anything at all during the day. Once you've noticed it, though, you're definitely aware that civilization is still out there. Overall: good site, nice campground, no crowd at all mid-week. Short walk to the village if you need supplies or feel like a hamburger; also to the NPS visitors center and the General Grant tree. Some cell service with Verizon.
