What Guests Are Saying
Sunset Campground is praised for its beautiful sunset views, clean facilities, and convenient location near major attractions in Sequoia and Kings Canyon. Many visitors enjoyed the serene atmosphere, ample hiking opportunities, and friendly staff. However, some noted issues with noise from neighboring sites and varying site sizes, which could impact the camping experience. Overall, it's a lovely spot that many would return to despite a few drawbacks.

This would have been a 5 star rating but Sunset Campground did NOT have a campground on-site manager. We had a neighbor whose aggressive dogs ran without leashes and one attacked my leashed and tied dog. We had to report it to the Park Rangers, who professionally dealt with it. It is irresponsible for a large national park campground to not have an on-site manager to deal with these situations and many other type of situations. We even had another neighbor who had a fire going at night, despite a total ban on fires by the park due to extreme fire danger status we are in.

Like the location but wish the campsites were a little bigger and flatter and not so on top of each other. Got 2 sites, 1 had some shade, the other none at all. Beware on a holiday weekend, the whole national park will be sold out of ice. Had to drive to Squaw valley to get ice.

Site 37β Quickly learned why itβs called Sunset Campground. Site was good for large tent- not too far to bathrooms. Absolutely gorgeous. Bear boxes good sized to hold all our stuff.
Only downside is that because it is an amazing location- it got packed with people at sunset walking through our site.
Awesome location next to Grant Grove where we got ice everyday and ice cream.
