What Guests Are Saying
Alpine Meadow Campground offers a clean, quiet, and well-maintained environment with spacious sites, making it ideal for families and outdoor enthusiasts. Its convenient location near Truckee and various hiking and biking trails adds to its appeal, while friendly hosts enhance the camping experience. Some minor concerns include potential allergens in the grass and noise from nearby airport and train tracks, but overall, visitors appreciate the campground's beauty and tranquility.

The campground is located in a very beautiful meadow with a fantastic view of snow-clad mountains. However, the serenity was rather frequently interrupted by passing aircraft (jets, helicopters, crop-dusters) due to the proximity to the Truckee airport; it wasn't too annoying, but did hinder the sense of the wilderness - the only reason for the 4 stars. The sites are very affordable and well-maintained, potable water is close and readily available; firewood is accessible, restrooms are stocked and are as clean as a vault toilet can get. There was no soap though, so don't forget to bring your own one.

I have been staying here for a long time and it never disappoints. The sites are clean and ready to use and with a new Supermarket nearby it’s even easier to grab those last minute items.

Quiet campground with plenty of shade and easy access to Truckee, Lake Tahoe, and other parts of the Sierra. Clean pit toilets are available but no showers. We were in site 10, which gets the sunrise directly. We took a nice hike up to Dry Lake/ Lake Ella from the campground, and we also walked down along Martis Creek Lake to birdwatch. Groceries and gas are conveniently located about 5 minutes away.

Campground is nice and we were there the first day of opening season and the campground was not ready. The fresh water spigots at the camp entrance were not working and I couldn’t get any water. That was a major issue.

It’s a beautiful, quiet park with gorgeous pine trees. The only thing that would’ve made it better was if there had been access to potable water.

What a wonderful little hidden gem. Shhhhhh. Don’t tell anyone else about this place. The campground was very well maintained. No hook-ups, (no problem) spacious sites and easy access to all. Some of the sites are a bit different - it’s just a pull- off on the road and then your camp site is right out your door. We had one of these (#18), and I was a bit suspicious of how it was going to work out. It was great! Would be perfect if you were tent camping. Lots of space around table, fire pit and socializing area. I’d reserve this site again. My only wish —- is that there was a dump station at the facility. We’ll be back next year. My new favorite “close” campground.
