We love this place but the no potable water situation is embarrassing. It’s been three years! Fix the darn issue.

Campsite 6 is a great site. It’s a little bit more private than the other sites and provides shade while still having lake views. We brought a propane campfire pit since there is a burn ban in place and we were really glad that we did. We wouldn’t recommend campsite 8 as it’s in the middle of a loop and surrounded by other campsites and does not provide any privacy.

This is a good campground, with a few caveats. The first of which is that there is zero running water, potable or not. This makes it incredibly hard on tent campers (like myself), and RV campers who don't want to haul gallons of water up the mountain. Hindsight is that it is 2024, we have cell service and truckee is 10 minutes away, and this campground and surrounding campgrounds should have flush toilets and potable water available. Building on that the road is in terrible condition with multiple potholes and speedbumps (even though the potholes are so big that they act as speed bumps). It may be time to close down a little early in the season to give this campground some much needed upgrades. Finally, tent campers beware that if you pick a site on the lake you will likely have little to no shade whatsoever. Adding to that campsite 8 should only really be used if you have a large group and you want to reserve the entire loop around it, this is a horrible site for solo campers and tent campers, as you are right in the middle of a loop and everyone can easily see your business.

Everything about this campground was fantastic EXCEPT THE CAMP HOST. He was outright rude to us and many of the campers around us. We had 3 sites, 3 families total. 6 adults, 6 young kids. We felt harassed by the host. If you've ever seen The Office, picture Dwight Schrute on steroids. Great spot to camp, minus the narcissistic host on a serious power trip.

Gorgeous little spot on the water with mountain views that light up during sunset. Quick access to Truckee and North Lake Tahoe, but feels removed from the crowds. Tent sites were not particularly large, but all appeared clean and well-situated in relation to the water. Easy to find, dog-friendly, decent cell service; we will definitely be back!
We did unfortunately end up between two large, loud groups and that kicked up a lot of dirt bike dust and bumpin' music; would have liked a bit more management from the camp host in that regard, but fortunately the dirt bike group quieted down after sunset and the music-players lowered the volume after I asked.

I camp here every year, and look forward to it... but the camp host is incredibly rude. He's been host for the last 3 years and each year seems to get worse. This, and the lack of available water over the last few years are the only reason this campground isn't a 5 star.
Otherwise it's great! Lakeside camping (after a good winter) with lots of trees and a well stocked lake for fishing. Its also super close to town just in case you forget something.

A quiet campground on a Great Lake perfect for paddle boarding and kayaking, jet skiis and large speed boats are not permitted. Bald Eagles are a common sight!
