Nice campground. Lake was full so easy to get to the water. Was there Monday through Wednesday and it was full, but lots of room between sites. Would go back again and would recommend.

Currently, water is unusually high and shore access is poor, fishing is decent, take bug repellent. Great camp ground

We were at Site 38 and the view of the mountain and lake is amazing, until a giant toy hauler blocked our view at the site next to us. The system says the limit for this site is a 20' RV, but it can hold much larger. It's essentially a pull-through site so you could put a 50' RV there if you wanted. Solar and Starlink work perfectly at this site as there is no tree cover. Barely any Verizon service in this spot. This campground is amazing but gets a lot of OHV traffic on the weekends because of the trail system across from it. That means a ton of dust and noise, but during the week it's pretty quiet. Overall great campground, great views, close enough to Truckee to explore the town for dinner (try brunch at Donner Lake Kitchen!) and close enough to Tahoe and hiking trails. Campground host is great and very helpful!

We have been camping at Lakeside for years. I think the water has been cut off for the last three, if not four years. Why can't the forest service, or whomever is in charge of the water situation, get it fixed.
There also was a question from the Camp Host about having more than one trailer on a site. We have done this for years, and all of a sudden it seems to be a problem.

This was our second time staying in this site. We have a 23 foot trailer and it fit just fine. The site was oriented a little oddly, but we made it work. I loved sitting near the firepit each morning facing out towards the lake, drinking my morning coffee. What a beautiful view with the lake and mountains!!! We had fun in the lake with the paddle boards and kayaks and this year we did a little fishing with the kayaks and caught 2, 15" fish that we cooked up for dinner. Both years we've camped here in mid June. The temperatures have been really nice. We will definitely return in the future.

It’s a nice spot to stop with some pretty views across the lake. Sites were a bit indistinct, opening into the roadway with little vegetation to define them. The vault toilets smelled fine but didn’t look as clean as other national forest facilities we’ve encountered. Camp host had firewood for sale, an increasingly rare amenity. No recycling. No potable water at the campground, only at the ranger station in town.
