What Guests Are Saying
Peltier Bridge Primitive Campground offers a beautiful setting near Clear Creek, with several sites providing easy access to hiking and swimming opportunities. Most sites are well-maintained and provide a peaceful, private camping experience, although some have issues with trash and restroom cleanliness. Overall, it's a great choice for last-minute camping trips, especially for those seeking tranquility and nature.

Beautiful campsite, though I wouldn’t call it primitive. Nice creek running along behind our site & it was nice and quiet all throughout.

The website was easy to use and we were looking forward to a good camping experience, but with all the forest fires 🔥 we couldn’t breathe the air so we stayed at Comfort Suites in Redding where it was 111degrees.

the login process just to reserve a site was very complicated and took a long time. I don't want to create an account just to camp for a few nights. You have to pay for a week just to get on the Whiskeytown recreation area (whether visiting for a single day or the week) and you must pay an additional 20 per day for campsites that are in disrepair # 7. My picnic table was vandalized and the bear lockers can no longer have a personal lock added to them for keeping things locked up as the last time I visited, all my stuff was stolen while I went into town. It is such a shame what they charge. I was always a past visitor, and wouldn't mind supporting the rebuild efforts, but it just isn't worth is and I will be finding other places to camp, mountain bike ride and recreation while spending more money elsewhere. Only about half of the trails are open since the 2018 fire.

I did a midweek overnight at site 6, and can't emphasize enough how pleasantly surprised I was. It was a shaded site, bordered by blackberry hedges, steps away from the bathroom, but far enough away to afford privacy in the camp. Well maintained bathrooms, functioning and clean trash/recycling bins. Fell asleep listening to the creek, and didn't get eaten alive by bugs. My only gripe is that there's no site map available online. Although I was lucky to get site 6 and loved it, some sites lack any shade and have no view of the water, and there's no way to know what you're getting without a site map.

Some took our campsite, claiming that they had also booked it on Reservation.gov.

Easy to access campground on maintained dirt road. Sites were clean, adequately spaced apart, and had ample shade. Views and access to the creek from the sites are quite limited, but accessible from the bridge (which is very, very close). Hike up the ridge isn't particularly interesting, but if you keep hiking the views get better. Good experienced and I'd stay here again.
