Stunning views and friendly rangers and hosts. Being able to take all the hikes from my campground was so convenient. My specific site 40 was right next to the bathroom and shady during the day. Amazing experience

As always, a great stay. First time riding bikes through the valley. Stopped and asked a man working on the yard of his grey bungalow near a meadow, “What’s a guy gotta do to get this spot?”. He chuckled and replied, “Work for low wages.” Amen to that, brother. What I wouldn’t give. Keep up the great work, team.

Enjoyed our Upper Pines Campground site - good campers in the campground, quiet, and plenty of water in the river and scenic waterfalls.

The current reservation system creates a frustrating and inefficient camping experience. Because reservations open so far in advance, people feel pressured to grab any site they can—even dates they can’t actually use—just to have something. This leads to wasted campsites, as many are willing to eat the low $36/night fee if plans change, while others who genuinely want to visit get shut out.
For my recent 5-day trip to Yosemite, I was forced to book a different campsite every night, scrambling to stitch together whatever was available. Each morning, I had to tear down camp, pack everything up, wait for the next site to open, and set it all up again—while trying to care for my family in the middle of this exhausting shuffle. This isn’t a vacation—it’s a logistical grind. It also adds more work for campground hosts and causes confusion and unnecessary conflict between campers due to the constant turnover.
This system encourages hoarding, not fairness. To improve it, please consider shortening the booking window to 2–3 months and slightly increasing reservation fees. These changes would help limit speculative “just in case” bookings and ensure more sites go to people who actually intend to use them.

I think the location in Yosemite Valley is great and convenient, and I liked actually having running water at a campground. However, there were some things I definitely didn't enjoy. The sites are packed pretty closely together. This was okay on weeknights but on the weekends it was very noisy with neighbors not respecting quiet hours (both early and late). The air gets very smoky when campfires are allowed (between 5-10pm), with many people also not following this rule and extinguishing their campfires at 10pm. I struggled with air quality here in a way that I haven't struggled at other campgrounds. Overall, I would consider camping here again on a weeknight, but it was too noisy, busy, and smoky on the weekend.
