Wawona Campground was good. We were right next to the Merced River. The problem we encountered at our Yosemite stay was twofold; Horsetail Falls barely had any water in it which made seeing Firefall next to impossible & after taking the shuttle back to our parking spot we had an hours drive in the dark on unfamiliar roads. Last year in our attempt to see Firefall we entered the park in a long line only to be turned back around because of a rock fall. Maybe it’s not meant to be?

Campground was awesome. A bit disappointed to learn that only one section was open. No wonder it was very difficult to book the sites. The generator hours do not make any sense. Forces me to run my generator unnecessarily due to being limited to certain hours. 7 am seems a bit early. Most people are still sleeping but that is one of the only times I can run my generator, I felt bad for some of the nearby campers. I only needed to run the generator to recharge the batteries in my RV. The ranger was very friendly and helpful. She was awesome. She gave me advice concerning the roads and the weather. It was February and I was afraid of snow on the roads but it did not snow when we were there. The sites are very unlevel. Would recommend this campground.

Loved this campsite!! About 45 minutes from the valley. I loved how the Merced river flows right next to the campsite so my family was able to explore! Can’t wait to come back.

Nice location next to the river. If you are lucky enough to get one of level sites, I wasn't, it would be better. All the water was shut off, I guess for the winter, so be sure you bring enough for your needs. The bathrooms are heated but no lights so challenging at night.

Being next to a body a water was nice! I love camping, I just don't like people who don't know camping etiquette with their flashlights in the middle of the night shining into our tent.

Our site was right on the Merced river - cold to swim in, but beautiful. The campground has clean bathrooms with sinks and flush toilets. There are also a few water spigots around the campground. There is a nearby dump station with water fill-up if you have a camper/trailer. Staff are friendly and helpful. This campground is about an hour's drive from the valley. It is a scenic drive, but windy - take it slow if you are prone to motion sickness.

A very nice place along the river, very calm at this period of the year, with many places available. Excellent spot to visit the south part of the park, starting of course with Mariposa Grove.
