In order to get a campsite at Wanona you may need to play musical chairs and stay at a different site every night but it's so worth it. It is a drive to Yosemite Village but with all of the stops along the way it was fun. Don't forget to explore Wanona village and buy a book at the library. The camp hosts were friendly and helpful and everyone seems to respect the quiet times and keep their campsites pristine. To the camper who left us the stick to stir up our campfire thank you!! All in all when we go back to Yosemite Wanona will be our choice. BTW no mobile service which we loved and I hope it stays that way. I would choose a campground for that reason only. I was so wonderful to be device free for a change and guess what? We survived.

Wawona Campground has always been our go to place. I love the serenity of the area. Far from the crowds. We always pick the ones that are close to the river. Hearing the river flow is just so relaxing and magical. I always recommend this place to our friends. Not to mention, the wonderful staff that greets us at the camp entrance. Love ❤️

Great location 40 min from Curry Village, the campground is in really good condition, there is running water in the bathrooms and toilet. The campground itself is very good, there is a river that goes through the campground which is a huge plus. A lot of shaded area

Very dismal environment--few trees, scrubby looking, river banks are not easy to walk along. Tent spaces are on gravel; have little space between--no privacy. Very disappointing experience after all they hype I'd heard about Yosemite.

This campsite was amazing. You’re right next to a bathroom and a beautiful river. You don’t get a lot of foot traffic but when people came by they were super friendly.

Beautiful. Not a lot of privacy from neighboring sites, though. And several people just walked right through my campsite to see the river, which felt a little invasive and rude.

The Wawona Campground is a wonderful place to experience the grandeur of Yosemite. So much more spacious than the crowded Yosemite Valley area. Many Wawona campsites are right on the banks of the Merced River, providing a perfect place to sit and listen to the soothing sounds of the rushing waters.
