We really enjoyed our time here. There are 12 sites, some have a larger footprint than others. Smaller sized ones are: 3, 4, 5, and 6. They are all a fine size though. Has a fire pit with grill, picnic table, and sites 2, 5, and 9 have the log covering. The sites are pretty close together, but we had no problem with our neighbors. There is only one hand pump near sites 6/7 that takes forever to get water from, but does work (it was easier just to get water from the stream to put out the campfire than use the pump). The bathrooms are clean. The most inconvenient part was all sites are walk in, the nearest sites to where you park are 8 and 9. The creek right next to the campground is very peaceful.

Located in a very remote setting (there are no nearby stores to run to,) this lovely campground is quiet; occasional airplanes are all you'll hear. It takes a while to figure out the layout, but that's part of the charm. The other charming part is the log shelters and tables. Even if your site doesn't have one, shelters add to the historical feel of the campground. It is convenient to several hiking trails, but not much else.
Practical points:
* As of August, 2020, the water pump that serves sites 1,2, and 3 is out of order, and walking then driving then walking again to the pump near site 6 is a hassle.
* Bear-proof lockers are available to all sites, which makes walk-in camping much easier.
* If you're thinking about visiting Bishop Castle, read all the signs near the entrance. After I read the signs, I chose not to enter.

Wonderful out-of-the-way campground. Quiet and small. Appreciate the tent only experience and proximity to hiking trails. Sites are generally grouped by 3s, with some having good privacy and others having none.
Services suffered from Covid-19 restrictions. Outhouses needed cleaning, bear proof trash can overflowing and water pumps turned off and locked. Bring your own water!! Love the old style forest service feel and construction. It’s like a trip back in time.
