The drive to the campground was charming! I came across a flock of turkeys hanging out in the road and one tried to chase me. The campground was solo easy to navigate and it seems a camp host was always onsite and super helpful to campers. There were bear lockers at each campsite, but I only saw a few deer roaming around after dark.

Nice campground on the lake! The site we had chosen was very small and wouldn’t accommodate our small trailer easily (site 37). Fortunately the campground hosts were very helpful and allowed us to move to another site as there was no cell service and it’s difficult to get in touch with recreation.gov. Overall it’s a nice spot with great fishing on the Frying Pan river!

A great little spot close to Basalt. Water levels very low, but that is not the fault of the campground. Very well maintained and the Camp hosts are always very helpful & kind.

Great hosts.
The only problem is the dump station. It’s been out of order for THREE YEARS!.
It’s really disappointing that the forest service has not gotten it repaired. I think there are approximately 6 to 8 different campgrounds in the area, and all of them rely on this dump station. Even though I paid for a week ‘s camping, I had to haul waste water for over 50 miles to a private campground on I 70 and pay $20 to dump the waste tanks. Please please do something about this!
