Love this campground. I try to camp here every year. Always clean and quiet. I was shocked to see most campsites reserved but very few were actually filled. Wish people would get penalized for no-showing on reserved sites. It’s generally a very busy campground and I’m sure those sites could have gone to other people instead of sitting empty all weekend.

Campsite was OK. The campground is 14 mi from the town of Basalt on a winding road that follows a pretty river. Lovely drive, but in the middle of nowhere. We had a 30 ft trailer and pickup truck and had no problem getting there. Our campsite was not very good, but we made it work. It was on a hill and hard to get level. It said no water available, but you could get a small amount from some of the spigots around. The dump station looked permanently closed. The grass on our site had never been mowed and was tall. My husband found a tick on him. But the lake and the surrounding views were beautiful!

The drive to the campground was charming! I came across a flock of turkeys hanging out in the road and one tried to chase me. The campground was solo easy to navigate and it seems a camp host was always onsite and super helpful to campers. There were bear lockers at each campsite, but I only saw a few deer roaming around after dark.

This is a great place to take your family camping it has bathroom amenities it had potable water the scenery is absolutely amazing we went the first week of October it was so gorgeous Jeff was absolutely amazing with everything and told us how to get to different spots to see the rest of the reservoir couldn't have found this little Hidden Gem more Charming our family had a great time!

The hosts were very nice, the area was beautiful and well kept. The bathrooms were clean. We would definitely go back.

Getting There
Take I-70 west of Denver to Glenwood Springs Exit 116, Highway 82 to
Basalt. At Basalt, take Frying Pan Road 15 mi to the Ruedi Complex
Entrance. Take a right, then a left, and proceed to second campground.
Highway access
The campground is accessible via I-70, with the Glenwood Springs Exit 116 leading to Highway 82 towards Basalt. Frying Pan Road provides access to the campground from Basalt.
Policies & Rules
Arrival & departure
- Reserved sites must be occupied by 11:00 AM the day after arrival to avoid forfeiture.
- Check-in is at 2:00 PM and check-out is at 11:00 AM; guests must leave on time.

Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
Local regulations
- This campground is located in Carbondale, CO and should not be confused with another campground in Leadville, CO.
Vehicles & parking
- Each single site allows one RV with a tow or one vehicle per tent site, with a potential for one extra vehicle at an additional fee.
- Boat trailers are not allowed in the campground and must be parked in the designated Marina area.
Wildlife & food storage
- Food, beverages, trash, and scented items must be stored properly when unattended, using provided bear-proof lockers and receptacles.
Safety & rules
- Inspect and clean your packs, equipment, and tires to prevent invasive species before using lakes or trails.
Fires & fuel
- Campfires and charcoal fires may be restricted during hot, dry weather conditions.
- Obtain firewood locally and burn it on-site to prevent the spread of pests.

Site capacity
