The campground hosts Larry and Sharon are wonderful except their hands were tied on this experience...dumpsters overflowing, no water the entire time and the potties were 3/4 full from last year. Unconscionable that Recreation.gov would even allow the campground to be open. We made our reservation Jan 1 for Colorado Campground ( about a mile north of South Meadows). About a week before our reservation we were notified that Colorado Campground was closed. Rec.gov refunded us our money. That left us without a campsite. We jumped on the computer and reserved South Meadows. Management of South Meadows knew that they didn’t have water available ( that was number one) and also knew the toilet vaults and dumpsters were overflowing. Horrific. Also quite unsafe as bears are coming out of hibernation and albeit stinky, they love trash dumpsters!

The sites were clean. The hosts were very nice. All the sites were well marked with reservation information. Each site was easy to access and park a camper trailer. The other patrons were very nice and respectful. There were a few open sites (non reserved), which made me think we could just show up and possibly still find a spot without making reservations. The bathrooms were nice and easy to access. The trash dumpsters were completely full, but we were able to stuff out trash in and still get the lid closed. We had a great time!
