Colorado is dying. Yes, I enjoyed my camping experience at South Meadows, although every time I camp in Colorado, I see less and less wildlife. National Forest Service does NOT seem to care about environmental devastation in Colorado. Pine Beetle has killed at least 100 times as many longer-needle pine trees, as the worst wildfire in Colorado history.
Dozens of species of wildlife are extinct or near extinction in Colorado national forests. I haven't seen a Western Jay Bird in Colorado in years. I have not seen a skunk, porcupine, coyote, mountain lion, bear, snake, bald eagle, golden eagle, fox, raccoon, marmot, pika, mouse, sandhill crane, pine marten, badger, bobcat, moose -- in a Colorado national forest -- in at least 10 years.

This was a beautiful wooded campground and we had an ideal campsite. We were welcomed by the friendly volunteer camp hosts, husband and wife. Could not have asked for better treatment. Enjoyed a hike in the adjoining meadow.
