What Guests Are Saying
Thunder Ridge Campground offers a beautiful and clean camping experience, with friendly hosts who ensure the facilities are well-maintained, including spotless bathrooms. The campground is conveniently located near Woodland Park and features stunning views, easy access to a reservoir for activities like hiking and fishing, and a peaceful atmosphere. Some challenges include uneven tent pads and a bumpy access road, but many campers express a desire to return for the overall positive experience.

Site 2 is great, it has a little more privacy than most. Our stay was relaxing and quiet. Camp hosts were great, bathrooms were clean.

The camp hosts kept the pit toilets super clean/fresh smelling (despite the load of campers there). And, amazingly and wonderfully, unlike our trips to the same campground and often to the same campsite for the last several years, we had lovely cellphone service for both voice and data (with our Verizon-served phones). In years past, this had been a major issue for us, causing us to have to drive the very bumpy road back to near Woodland Park to make a call dealing with a family emergency. LOVELY.
We also recommend the beautiful loop trail around the reservoir - long and sometimes difficult to hike due to natural features, and more difficult to mountain bike in some areas, but the views are well worth it.

At 1130 a 45 ft 5th wheel with a diesel engine got stuck trying to maneuver his in transit rig thru the campground. He was loud, using bright led flaslughts with no regard for other campers when he couldnt clear a tree, refused use of our phone that had cell service. My son ended up helping him back out of the circle and into a safer place😵

Both the gate attendant and the camp Hostess were very friendly. The hostess had already cleaned the campsite and then graciously carried firewood for us. Moreover, we have never seen park restrooms so clean. The views from the campsites closest to Rampart Reservoir were spectacular primarily because the campsites are so much higher than the reservoir. Hiking down to go fishing is a young person's endeavor due to the elevation and steep incline.- I would not recommend this hiking excursion to seniors.

Great time! Our first time at this campground we had campsite number one and enjoyed it very much. Everything very well-maintained and the scenery is wonderful. Was unaware of all the fishing possibilities - will definitely make use of that next time!
