What Guests Are Saying
Thunder Ridge Campground is praised for its beautiful setting, clean facilities, and friendly hosts, particularly Jan, who provides excellent service. Campers appreciated the well-maintained restrooms and the peaceful atmosphere, with many enjoying nearby hiking trails and the stunning reservoir views. However, some noted challenges with site sizes for tents, difficult access roads, and occasional strong winds, yet most expressed a desire to return.

Beautiful spot. We go after the regular season and during week days and it’s not so crazy busy. We only live about 30 minutes away and like to go for some away time from work and a lot of kayaking.

Breathtaking sunrises and clean mountain air. The campgrounds was full but didn’t feel on top of each other full, good spacing. If you are one that needs cell service this may not be the place at 9200 feet in the mountains, spotty signal. The campground host, Cheryl, was fantastic keeping track of the grounds and giving advice of things to do in the area.

The 4 mile road (Rampart Range) leading to Thunder Ridge is always in TERRIBLE shape. A driver in front of us flipped his Honda Element on its roof, totaling it, due to the washboard and loose sand on the road. The road has been terrible for many years, and is infrequently graded. Inexcusable, even by 'back country road' standards. Should I really need to crawl at 2 MPH for 2 of the 4 miles to avoid destroying my truck and camper?
