What Guests Are Saying

Thunder Ridge Campground is praised for its beautiful setting, clean facilities, and friendly hosts, particularly Jan, who provides excellent service. Campers appreciated the well-maintained restrooms and the peaceful atmosphere, with many enjoying nearby hiking trails and the stunning reservoir views. However, some noted challenges with site sizes for tents, difficult access roads, and occasional strong winds, yet most expressed a desire to return.

We had a wonderful stay. The campsites, while close together, are set up to feel a bit private. We had a mama deer and her baby walk right up to us and we got to watch the baby feed! The hike to the reservoir is absolutely stunning! The woman running the site was super friendly and helpful. We will absolutely be back!!

We stayed in Site 20 and although the site was beautiful, overlooking the forest, and a bit I leveled because of the natural layout of the forest, what was the most terrible was the scent from the bathrooms. I believe there’s a pipe that exits between site 20 and the site to the right (overlooking the forest) that ventilates the bathrooms. It smelled horrible, but you only caught a Whig of it once in a while. Other than that, beautiful place!

The camp was clean, and in a beautiful spot above the reservoir. The water provided tasted great. The access road was awful and very rough. The camp host made sure I was comfortable and gave me good information about walking around the lake. Go there, but make sure you drive the access road slowly.
