What Guests Are Saying
Thirty Mile Campground is highly praised for its beautiful mountain views, spacious and clean campsites, and friendly hosts who maintain spotless facilities. Visitors appreciate the campground's privacy, proximity to fishing spots, and access to hiking trails. The main concern noted was the rough 10-mile dirt road and occasional noise from generators, but overall, guests express a strong desire to return.

Excellent staff, well kept grounds, right near the Rio Grande river, excellent views of the sky, quick access to trailheads and would recommend this campground to anyone. Drive 5 mph around the campground due to all the dust! I really enjoy the thought of returning, just need to plan!

The campground hosts, Doris and Ted were the best! I give them a 5 star rating. Friendly, helpful, kept the restrooms and campsites well maintained. The location of the campground is beautiful with rivers, lakes, and trails for hiking. Wildlife is abundant; we especially enjoyed seeing moose and moose babies as well as deer, fox, birds, squirrels and chipmunks. I gave a 4 star rating because of the noise from the dam construction at Rio Grands reservoir; it did disturb the quiet and peacefulness of the campground. We enjoyed eating at the rustic store and grill south on the main highway. Lake City is close by going north on the highway and Creede going south. If you like small mountain towns, Creede is worth visiting with a number of restaurants, art galleries, theater productions, and a National Forest ranger station with a helpful ranger and a lot of free information about trails in the area. The waterfall is a bit north off the main highway is worth seeing though we've missed seeing the swifts who build their nests behind the waterfall. The drive from Lake City north to Blue Mesa reservoir and then to Gunnison is beautiful. Black Canyon of the Gunnison is also worth visiting. Enjoy!

I had reserved campsite #1 and have a 25 ft TT. Backed trailer ok, but due to large spruce branches, could not put awning out and it rained everyday, so grilling was soggy!!. Outside of that, restrooms were clean and campground quiet, despite being very busy. would absolutely return.
