Quiet, forested setting with widely spaced sites. The campground is run by a private company, and, they are very good at maintaining the grounds. The pit toilets are the cleanest you’ll ever see. The downside is the dirt road into the park. Sections of it take “washboard” to new levels. The Forest Service needs to increase maintenance on the road.

The campground was really spectacular, the wooded forest was beautiful, and the grounds were maintained really well (always nice to have a cleaned and maintained vault toilet). Lots of hiking is around the area, and we especially enjoyed the off-roading just continuing on the main road too!

The campground was really spectacular, the wooded forest was beautiful, and the grounds were maintained really well (always nice to have a cleaned and maintained vault toilet). Lots of hiking is around the area, and we especially enjoyed the off-roading just continuing on the main road too!

Getting There
From Main Street in Durango, travel west on 25th Street (across from the fairgrounds entrance) for just over three miles, to the forest boundary. Continue just over a mile to the campground entrance. The day-use area loops to the left.

General
- The extended summer season will continue starting 9/27 through 10/18/2025, FCFS only campsites. No Water will be available during this time. Please plan accordingly. Restrooms and trash service will still be available. Host onsite.
- This is bear country; please practice safe food storage techniques
