We stayed in site #5 of loop C and really enjoyed our visit. That site had good tree coverage but the parking area was open which was perfect to keep our solar panels topped off. The vault toilets were very well kept and the host was personable and stayed on top of things. We didn't notice any generators in our loop and the sites are spaced enough apart that you get some privacy.
This was a great location for exploring the Durango area as you are only about 15min from town and easy access to everything but once back at the campground we felt like we were away from it all. The Colorado Trail starts/ends right outside the campground so you have a nice trail that follows a creek for a bit. There were a lot of mosquitos/flies in mid-June but that's to be expected in the forest with a creek nearby.

From Main Street in Durango, travel west on 25th Street (across from the fairgrounds entrance) for just over three miles, to the forest boundary. Continue just over a mile to the campground entrance. The day-use area loops to the left.

- The extended summer season will continue starting 9/27 through 10/18/2025, FCFS only campsites. No Water will be available during this time. Please plan accordingly. Restrooms and trash service will still be available. Host onsite.
