We had a great stay at Junction Creek Site 4 Loop D. The campsite was great with plenty of shade, very well maintained restrooms, and an amazing host. It was remote but yet a quick drive to get into the town of Durango. There were hiking trails nearby. We were able to walk to the host site from our campsite to buy firewood. The only negative was our campsite location felt like we were in the middle of a circle of surrounding campsites and did not offer much privacy. Because of this, we could hear everything going on at all surrounding campsites.

So close to Durango, but far enough down a forest road you would never know. The walk down to the creek is a must, pretty abundant trout. The location on Colorado Trail is pretty optimal. Clean, well kept as was our experience elsewhere in Colorado forests.
