It was hard to believe we were only 15 minutes away from Durango, it felt deep in the forest. Campsites were lovely and road flow good. I must comment that these were the cleanest and actually nice smelling large pit toilets that I have ever in all my years of camping have ever experienced. The hosts are to be commended!! Both husband and wife hosts were very friendly and did the job together, which was so nice to see. It rained cats and dogs when we were there both nights, and while the tent pad was smooth and even, it was lower than the wooden borders, meaning it filled up like a lake under us. I would recommend adding gravel to those tent sites with this issue for the future. Other than that, we were extremely pleased with our experience there. We also appreciated that the large lime green bearbox trash bins had been oiled so that they opened easily enough for a human....an issue we ran into many times in our travels. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

This has been one of our favorite places to camp! Great Hosts and site was perfect, flat and not over crowded with plenty of room on our site. It was nice having the electrically hookups and drinking water. Very clean toilets! We will be back.

For the most part, a real good campground it just wasn’t very level where we were, but there were other level spots, but it’s very popular and there were a lot of people very convenient and close to Durango

This campground is amazing!! Sites are spread out nicely (our site was fairly level), water pump worked great, deer came through every day, close to Durango but still far enough away to seem remote, camp hosts were great, lots of trees and squirrels/chipmunks/birds and it was so nice to have electricity. We didn't use the restrooms but they were very clean and nice smelling and convenient to our site. Fire ring was perfect for roasting smores. We would definitely stay here again!! We were in Loop E, site 2.

It is a beautiful national forest campground in the forest a few miles from Durango. It was hot weather, so very nice to have some shade at the site and for walks. My companions were 2 dogs and we greatly enjoyed the Junction Creek Trail (there was water in the creek!) which was part of the Colorado Trail, so you could walk as far as you wanted.

I love this place. Huge and private campsites (depending which you pick) and super super clean bathrooms. Being 15 min from downtown is a huge plus for groceries, restaurants, etc. Highly recommend Loop E Site 11. Spacious and private. And only a short walk to the clean toilets and water.

A great site only 20 minutes drive from Durango. Lots of space between sites and plenty of privacy. Probably the cleanest vault toilets I've encountered. This site is on a bit of a slope but there is ok ground to the left of the pitch

From Main Street in Durango, travel west on 25th Street (across from the fairgrounds entrance) for just over three miles, to the forest boundary. Continue just over a mile to the campground entrance. The day-use area loops to the left.

The extended summer season will continue starting 9/27 through 10/18/2025, FCFS only campsites. No Water will be available during this time. Please plan accordingly. Restrooms and trash service will still be available. Host onsite.
