This is a gorgeous, back-to-nature campsite. Each site has so much privacy, with all of the trees. The second I pulled into my site I knew it was going to be one of my favorite places to stay.

Excellent spot with lots of trees! Close enough to Durango to experience the city, but far enough into the woods to experience the wonderful San Juans.

This is a beautiful campground not too far out of Durango. I had booked months ahead, but they do have some first come, first serve sites. We were surrounded on three sites by vegetation, so the sites are spread out with plenty of room. We did a lot of walking around the CG while visiting, and it was clean and well kept (that includes the bathrooms)! Bob and Carol, the camp hosts that I met, are very friendly and do an amazing job with the upkeep of Junction Creek CG.

I had tow vehicle problems and was not able to make the booking. I was not able to contact anyone to let them know about the issues. The phone number on the website was for a management company in California. I left a message to call me back and no one ever called. I ended up calling recreation.gov and was told, if I didn't make the first night at the site, I was out of luck and my booking was cancelled. I did get a partial refund after the person at the recreation.gov website put in a request. I did eventually receive a phone call from the campground host at the site asking if I was still interested in the site. Unfortunately, the phone call from the host was a bit too late. I had already returned home because of the tow vehicle issues. It would have been nice to have some contact number to call where I was able to get a return call or speak to someone at the site.
