We had Loop A, Site D. If you are willing to carry your stuff in, the walk-in sites are by far the nicest in the campground, and all have beautiful views. A and B have no shade/hammock trees. C, D and E are all a longer walk (C is closest, then D, then E) but have beautiful private settings close to the river with both sun/shade. The river makes great white noise at night - loud at sites C, D and E, and you can hear it at sites A and B but not as loud. The banks are steep, so it isn't easy to actually go down to the river itself. All sites in this campground have large tent pads, a fire ring with a grate and a picnic table that cannot be moved (this was annoying in our site, as for some reason they had put the fire ring right next to the picnic table. The five walk-in sites have 3 shared bear boxes by the assigned parking spots, then each has its own bear box at the site. Site D also had an additional older huge bear box, which was super helpful, as this campground advises that you not leave any food in your car (when we checked in, they showed us pics of a car at that campground that had been broken into by a bear). The bathrooms must have been recently redone, as they were extremely clean/nice; they have flush toilets but no showers. There is a sink at the bathroom building for doing a final rinse on your dishes, and the water spigot for filling your water is by the parking. Most evenings there is someone selling firewood, bags of ice and ice cream treats for two hours. A couple evenings there were elk walking through the trail to the campsites. The location of this campground close to the Fall River entrance is convenient for running into Estes Park for groceries/phone service; just beware the backups (we arrived after 3 on a Sunday and probably had to wait for close to an hour to get in - it wasn't like that the rest of the week).

We stayed in a tent at campsite #13. The campsite itself was close to #12 with a tree separating the two sites, it backs up to an opening that had deer and turkeys walking through it. There is pretty much no shade throughout the day. The bathrooms are super clean with running water. Ice and firewood are only available for purchase from 530pm - 730pm. The campground is about 30 - 40 minute drive from Bear Lake trails.

The first evening our site B9 was nice and level; deer walked by on the side of the hill and the wild flowers were delightful. The second evening we stayed at C49; it was difficult to level the van, but we finally did. An inversion set in and all the camp fire smoke just hung over the campground. That was not very nice, but Mother Nature had a hand in that! Loved the toilets with the outside rinse stations! That was super nice. All in all we had a wonderful stay. Also, the camp host was really great! Ed! He was really fun to talk to, very informative and just a really nice person. We had a fabulous time. Took our 5 month old puppy and even he had a great time! (Although it was not very fun to sleep with him! LOL)

The campground is in a beautiful location, but also close to the entrance to the park, so it's nice if you need to run into town for something. It was quiet and peaceful and the bathrooms were very nice and clean.

Great campsite! The stream runs nearby , which really calms me down. We even saw an elk near the campground.

First stay in Aspenglen CG - very nice sites, cool people, clean facilities - easy access to Fall River / lawn lake trail if you want to do some fishing, quiet / less crowded relative to Bear Lake side - entry on fall river side was < 5 minutes mid-day despite construction.
