Everything We Hoped For!
We loved this campground for the stunning views, super clean bathrooms, and the easy access to hiking in RMNP. So many trails to choose from, either directly from the campground, or across the Bear Lake Road to the Park N Ride. Can't say enough about the views, especially if your site is in the open center area like ours was at C119. There are lots of sites with shade as well. Sites are pretty close together but since we did not take our pups (they can't go on the park trails) we didn't mind.
Very difficult to snag a reservation but daily persistence paid off and we got one night which was the last night of their season. So glad we did. Will try again for next year!

Glacier Basin campground is the perfect location for those who want to hike in the Bear Lake Corridor on the east side of the park. The free shuttle (park and ride) is directly across the street from the campground. The shuttle runs every 10-15 minutes with stops at each of the trailheads and returning the same way. For those who want to hike the alpine lakes trail (very popular) hop on the bus and head to the top. NO PARKING PLACE issues. Also when you camp at Glacier Basin you will not need a timed entry permit because your camping reservation lets you in at 1:00 pm of the day you begin camping and you are free to come and go at will.

One of my absolute favorite places. The cold weather at night caught me off guard, my fault totally.
My BIG problem is with the campsite Reservation process with Res.gov. Campground full ???? But lot of empty sites. I was at Great Smokey Mountain National Park last year where campground was 2/3 empty but and Reserving sites was difficult, and campground full signs up. I don’t get it. I tried really hard to reserve spots in other National Parks

Beautiful park. Nice enough campground but spots are too close to each other. Received numerous notifications of upcoming reservation but no notice of a fire ban.

lovely campsite, absolutely beautiful to have the mountains all around you!! Across the street from the park-and-ride so it's super easy to get to any of the bear lake corridor hikes. Very clean bathrooms.

Always one of my favorite campgrounds with best views of the mountains. Great facility. Had a great experience this time as well. Lovely weather. Saw some deer and a whole herd of elk.

I would highly recommend a stay at Glacier Basin Campground. The site has excellent views, and is across the street from the park and ride. From the parking lot you can catch a shuttle to 3 different trailheads, which will give you access to a dozen or so hikes.
Staying at this campgrounds will make your stay so much simpler; as being on Bear Lake road eliminates the need for timed entry pass, the shuttle greatly reduces the need to drive for the first day or two, and the campground is relatively close to Estes Park should you need supplies.

This was my first camping experience and I was nervous. But I will absolutely be back to this location! The bathrooms were close by and very clean! The bear cabinet was much appreciated. Just a short walk or bike ride away is a beautiful open field to star gaze and mountain gaze from. There were many campers but I never felt crowded and quiet time was respected both nights we were there.
