Moraine Park Campground in Rocky Mountain National Park offers a beautiful and peaceful camping experience, with stunning views of snow-capped mountains and abundant wildlife like deer and elk. Campers appreciate the clean facilities, friendly staff, and convenient access to hiking trails. Really had a great time. The stars were amazing and we saw so much wildlife. One of our best camping trips ever at Rocky Mountain, we also had a great quiet campsite.

We enjoyed A113 campsite for two nights. The location is nice - private, short hike from the car and not too far of a walk to the restrooms. We had nightly visits from a mother deer and her two young ones. We also had a wild female turkey come through with 8 babies. We were there in early September so the elk rutting season had begun. We saw a herd of 50-60 elk just outside of the campground area. This campground is excellent - close to hiking, fishing and animal watching. Highly recommend!

Such an awesome experience during rut season!! We could hear the bugles all night. Unfortunately with the sites being so stacked on top of each other, we could also hear people snoring and talking way past curfew. Overall a great campground.

Not many know this park campground has shuttle services every 30mins to Park and Ride. No need to wakeup at 4am or 5am just to find parking spot at glacier gorge or bear lake if you have campground reservations here, you can utilize shuttle services.

This campground wasn't as deep into the park as I expected, so you can still get signal in the park. A31 is just a 150-meter walk over the hill to the restroom. The restroom is VERY clean with flushable toilets. The campsite is well-shaded. Not much foot traffic to disturb you at this campsite; however, sounds DO CARRY. The first night we were kept awake by neighbors at A30, and the second night by people down at A28. Bring ear plugs!
I did the Bear Lake to Dream, Nymph, and Emerald Lake hike. Nymph was the best looking lake, in my opinion. Emerald and Dream look the same, not worth the hike, but a local told me the lakes look much prettier in January/February.

We loved our camp site, A022, as it was slightly tucked away from all but one other campsite on a small hill. The park was beautiful, and so expansive that we will have to come back to see more! Great stay.

What a treasure. Rocky Mountain National Park has been a family favorite for years. We love observing the wildlife, especially the elk and enjoy the fishing opportunities. Nothing beats the beauty of a beautiful Brook trout in the Park's streams and fishing separates you from the crowds and allows you to appreciate the beauty of the Park in solitude.

What an amazing experience. If I could give 6 stars, I would! I tent camped at Morraine Park for 2 nights. During my two day stay I had so many firsts! I solo hiked in the Rockies, which sounds terrifying, but the trails in Morraine park are highly trafficked and well taken care of. There wasn't one time where I felt unsafe. The natural beauty of this place is astounding. I did the park & ride to Bear Lake. That trail was rather easy and again, highly trafficked. From that point I hiked up the mountain towards Alberta Falls. What a beautiful waterfall! Along the trail the only wildlife that made itself known were chipmunks, who were clearly seeking food from hikers. Just a reminder- it is illegal to feed all wildlife in the park. I continued past Alberta Falls towards Mills Lake. The trek wasn't easy due to the rough terrain and the elevation gain, but it was SO worth it!! Mills Lake did not disappoint. The view of the mountain range and the crystal clear water left me in awe. I spent 2 hours sitting by the water just taking it all in. I 100% recommend this trail. Back at the campsite, I was really pleased with the cleanliness of the park. I was surprised to see an entire herd of Elk grazing just 60 yards away from my campsite. They continued all night and I woke up at 6am to an Elk bellowing 10 ft away from my tent. So cool! There are a few hiking trails right next to the campsite. One of them being Cub Lake. I did this hike around 630pm! This is an easy hike with little to no elevation gain. I had to turn around before the sun set because I didn't want to get caught in the middle of the meadow at dusk. I'm so glad I went when I did though because that is when I saw a female Moose make her way out of the forest to graze in the meadow. That was the most beautiful and humbling experience. On my last night I stayed up to watch the stars come out, not expecting to see the Milkyway and yet there she was! This experience truly moved me. I'm so glad I camped here!

Stay Out of Hydroseeded Areas!Moraine Park Campground has recently been re-seeded after construction! This process, called hydroseeding, applies a combination of local native seed, mulch fiber, and water to disturbed areas, and looks similar to fine straw. Over the next couple of years, this seed will germinate and help restore the local native plant communities we know and love. Please protect these fragile areas by using designated paths and keeping kids and pets out of hydroseeded areas. |
