We got a mojar rain and hail storm in the late afternoon but didn’t detour our fun, still was able to have a camp fire afterwards, I love camping in Moraine it is always so much fun, and get to see lots of wildlife walking right through the camp sites

One of the best spots we’ve stayed! Incredible views of longs peak and mountains, only caution is it’s a 200ft walk to your vehicle.

$30 (going up to $35/night for pit toilets with no electricity in them??!! You have to juggle a lantern or flashlight at night while you're trying to go, and there are no hooks or counters to put your lantern on when you're in there. I pity the moms who were trying to take their children in there! Not even a washing station for your hands outside the outhouse.
There are literally NO garbage cans in the camp area, except at the entrance to the campground. This is unacceptable! There is such a bear issue, and garbage needs to be put away securely at night, they should have garbage cans much more available.
The campsite literature says not to do your dishes at camp, use only a proper disposal recepticle for your dish-water, but NONE IS PROVIDED!! The campground on the West side at least has a sink available to wash at.
The campground sign said it was full, and in making reservations we could only find a couple sites open for one night, but when we were there EASILY half of the campground was vacant. If people aren't showing up for their reservations, or are cancelling, they really should open those sites up for first-come-first serve to make use of them. It was very poorly utilized facility, and obivously the 'reservation' system is not working. People are being turned away (told the campground is full) when half of it is vacant. Uncool, US gov!

Great campground inside the national park, close to trails and Estes Park. Bathrooms and amenities were nice, campsite came with bear box, picnic table, and fire pit with grill. The shuttle to and from Bear Lake is very convenient and runs on time. Overall great campground with views of RMNP all around.

Ice and wood easy to access. We had pit toilets which were not kept clean. We had just come from Difficult Campground near Aspen and Moraine campground coukd take lessons from them on how to manage pit to toilets!

Campsite was well maintained, amazing to see lots of wildlife in and around the campsite everyday. Facilities were clean! Very knowledgeable staff, ranger at Moraine Park was very helpful! Use the shuttle from the campsite to get to most of the hikes to reduce stress for finding parking and driving winding roads. Highly recommend Sky Pond hike from Glacier Gorge parking lot. Stay to the right on the way up the waterfall scramble and come down on your butt. Sunrise hike at Bear Lake was peaceful; not too many people were out so just got to enjoy the stillness of the morning. Would go back again!

Timed Entry Reservations: For visitors who are camping at Moraine Park Campground, your Timed Entry + Bear Lake Road Reservation is included with your camping reservation.Campers will be able to enter the park beginning at 1 p.m. on the first day of their camping reservation, which is also the check-in time for all RMNP campgrounds. Campers who plan to enter the park earlier in the day will have to enter the park outside of the times when timed entry is in effect (for example, before 9 a.m. for most areas of the park) or make a timed entry reservation. |

Entrance Fee. A park entrance fee is required to enter Rocky Mountain National Park, or show your annual or lifetime park pass. You may pay the entrance fee upon arrival.Pass Discounts on Camping. Check-in is after 1 p.m.Check-Out Time: All campers must check out and vacate their campsites by 12 p.m. on their departure day.Hookups - A number of campsites have 20/30/50 amp electric hookups available. Site Limits. Each site is limited to eight (8) persons and one camping unit (i.e., a tent, RV, or trailer/tow vehicle) plus one additional tent per site. All tents shall be located on the tent pad. All additional camp structures must be self standing without impacts to vegetation or trees. There is at least one parking space per site. Some sites may accommodate more than one vehicle. A vehicle is defined as one car/truck, one trailer, one RV, or one towed unit. Each vehicle must be parked on the gravel or paved parking pad causing no resource degradation or encroachment onto the main road. Extra vehicles must park in overflow areas.Maximum length of stay. The maximum length of stay during peak season is 7 nights. Please check the rules and regulations before making your reservation. |

Firewood. Firewood is available for purchase at Moraine Park Campground, and all other campgrounds in Rocky Mountain National Park.Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Moving firewood is illegal in some states. Visit dontmovefirewood.org to learn more.STOP THE SPREAD OF INVASIVE SPECIES. Remove plants, seeds, animals, and mud from boots, gear, pets, and vehicles. Clean your gear before entering and leaving the recreation site. Stay on designated roads and trails and follow local guidelines for firewood. CLEAN, DRAIN, DRY boats and any other recreational equipment that contacts water. Dispose of unwanted bait, worms, fish parts, or other organisms into the trash and not into the environment. Stay Out of Hydroseeded Areas!Moraine Park Campground has recently been re-seeded after construction! This process, called hydroseeding, applies a combination of local native seed, mulch fiber, and water to disturbed areas, and looks similar to fine straw. Over the next couple of years, this seed will germinate and help restore the local native plant communities we know and love. Please protect these fragile areas by using designated paths and keeping kids and pets out of hydroseeded areas. |
