What Guests Are Saying
North Fruita Desert Campground offers fantastic sites with great access to mountain biking trails, making it an ideal spot for family trips. The campground is clean, well-marked, and features nicely wooded areas for shade, along with newly paved access roads. However, some campsites are close together, which can lead to noise, and visitors are advised to bring their own toilet paper as supplies may run out.

What a surprise! It’s paved now all the way up to the trailhead. Each loop is gravel. Easy to find a spot without a reservation but you do need to reserve when you get there. Bring your own toilet paper on busy weekends. All vault toilets were out. Cleaners were coming around to restock.
Great spot to head out and go for a bike ride!

The bathrooms are all out of Toilet paper, unclean and poor shape. The fire pit was overflowing with ash, appears that our $ Fee to camp is not paying for a camp host or anyone to handle the work? Maybe we just shouldn't pay a fee?

Site A12 has shade, but is not very level for tents. A11 and A12 have a pull out suitable for a camper van or small trailer.

Paving the road into 18 Road has been long overdue, and is really a game changer! The new trails are great, and provide yet another reason to make my way to Fruita.
The 18 Road campground is unlike any other system I've used - it's all about riding. Having 100+ cars/trailers/vans at any other spot would seem overcrowded, and yet at Fruita it's just 'another day'. The trails never felt busy, and the campground was clean. The vaults always seem well serviced and *clean*.
If you are staying longer, and/or if it's super windy, shoot for a site on the west side (A-C loops?). Those are more isolated and a little down in the trees. They're also a little higher up and often have a spectacular view.

Such a well managed BLM campground. The 18 Road trail system combined with the well managed camping is a great experience for all.

Will kept campsites with great trail access. Picnic tables, fire rings, and pit toilets were great amenities. Or site felt secluded enough from neighbors and had good views of the cliffs and valley.

Perfect spot for camping and biking. Great flow trails, lots of options, and mostly directional, with a few challenging trails as well.
