Pristine. Pure nature. Elk, moose, deer everywhere. But the thick woods did not bare a bear. Creek!! - Mystique, the source of the mighty Colorado River itself, the most beautiful bathing bathtub in the universe. Bearboxes for all food&utensils provided such confidence and comfort, no flies in sight. Campfire wood is dry dry, excellent for s'mores and stories.

Beautiful, quiet campground. Be sure to get up early to keep an eye out for wildlife that come close to, and even through, the campground. Trees have grown back enough to give some privacy to most campsites but still allow great views of surroundings. Restrooms are great for what they are, including a dishwashing sink outside. Food lockers were plenty large enough for cooler, bear canister, and a couple small bags. plenty of firewood available on the honor system. NO host was on site due to staff shortages, but rangers drove through a couple times a day in case of issues.

We managed to get this camp site by going online 2 weeks before our stay. All the sites had been full but thye release a few 2 weeks before and a few more 4 days before. Loved the site we got. The campground is very nice. The trees are small which seemed like a negative at first but actually provided more privacy than tall trees.
The ranger at check in was very nice and helpful. We took a short hike to the old retreat camp nearby.
Gotta love National Park campsites. Clean restrooms and running water!!!!

Great camp space- did the very end walk in camp site for privacy as spaces are open unlike our state Wisconsin. A grey fox visited while we were packing up making off with some trash but was very entertaining!

The campground was very accessible. We loved camping there. Bathrooms were clean and they were flushable. There was an outlet in the bathroom if you wanted to have an air dryer or charge you phone. There were areas where we had cell phone signal. In the morning we saw a mother moose and her calf. We felt safe and we enjoyed the quiet night and beautiful view of the stars.

We were pleased with our site. The tree vegetation is starting to come back. We were close to many trails and close enough to Grand Lake. It was great!
