The campground is quiet, and the trees are now growing back. There are lots of good hiking in the park. It is close to Grand Lake and lots of different activities. We like to go to the Rocky Mountain Repertory Theater at night. During the summer they run different plays 3 nights in a row.

The campground was located in a beautiful location. The sites are a little close, but you could view the mountains from any site. Restrooms were very clean. Firewood was available for a small fee. We enjoyed our stay!

Very quiet and had a lot of wildlife activity, elk herds wandering through camp.

We enjoyed our time here, but after staying at all the official campgrounds in the park this was our least favorite. But this site was not very private for RMNP. You have 2 pretty close neighbors. It was about a 5 min walk to the bathrooms. The bear box for this site was half the size of a normal one and the car is a bit of a walk. They don't allow solar showers here at all. You can see the road and hear cars going by most of the time. However, you are still surrounded by mountains and hearing the elk as you wake up and go to bed is pure magic. It's also great being on the trails less traveled on the west side of the park.

The national park rangers and staff were super helpful and friendly. The campers were awesome as well! Cant wait to go back!
The only recommendation is to make the reservation system current/accurate. Our loop showed to be virtually full, in reality it was half full. Perhaps some confirmation process to help. I would hate for a family to see a full campsite and turn away to go elsewhere.

Although road is close to the site it was calm at night ´cause no traffic. Impressive visit of herd of elks on the camping in the night and in the morning.

This high elevation camp was just beautiful. The drive to get there was even better. The stars were bright and the site was nice. Not crowded.

A scenic location that was perfect for this beginning camper -- the bathroom wasn't too far, the ground wasn't too terribly hard, and it had a spacious storage unit for food. Also if you're looking to see elk, they came right up near the camp. You could also hear the bull elks bugling . . . all night. Nonetheless a great campground!

Had a great time! I wasn't expecting any trees at first but there are plenty of young ones much taller than humans around now. Saw an elk through a clearing near the amphitheater. My group loved this campground because it got us to another side of the park and wasn't crowded at all when we went in late August.
You had to share bear boxes with a neighboring campsite, but they were big so it worked out.
Saw lots of shooting stars as night here.
Got pretty cold at night but if you have the right equipment, you'll be golden.
Thunderstormed during the evening briefly. Make sure your tent is secure to the ground unlike ours was! When we came back, a neighbor said he rescued our tents for us! Shout out to that neighbor. We aren't rookies but that was a rookie mistake!
