We camped here over 4th of July with our two toddlers and a dog in our camper and had a wonderful time. Everyone was very friendly, the campsites were clean. We really enjoyed kayaking and swimming in the reservoir and our boys loved biking around the campground loops. It was a fairly quick drive into Gunnison and there were great hiking trails in the area as well. Overall, I'd highly recommend this campground!

The campsite was clean (including the bathrooms). There is drinking water available on site. The park rangers and volunteers were friendly and helpful. The lake views are nice - you can walk right over and get in a kayak or paddle board. Great hikes nearby. Several campsites are not level, but nothing you can't overcome with a few leveling blocks. Not much shade near the campsites, and frequently warm and windy in the afternoons.

The spaces were nice. Fire pits were very nice with trex picnic tables. The bathrooms were clean. We were disappointed that the advertised showers were locked without explanation.

Stayed at elk creek campground for 2 nights & it was great. My only complaint is that the site we originally booked (A31) has absolutely NO space for a tent. This site has the best views but it’s good if you have a car tent. Thankfully, the host Anitta was absolutely amazing and helped us contact recreation.gov to have our site changed. We ended up in site A33 which had more room for the tent and still great views.
The restroom facility was clean and extremely convenient. The campground was quiet, and just beautiful.
Anitta is without a doubt one of the best hosts we’ve encountered and she is very friendly and willing to help.
I would definitely stay here again.
Beware that it can get windy, especially late afternoon and night so be sure to secure all your belongings.
Also beware of chipmunks and mice trying to get to your food so keep it secured and don’t leave any crumbs around.

Loved the sites weren't crammed together like in most rv parks. Host was very friendly and helpful. Very clean thruout the park. Will most definitely stay if ever in the area again.

Clean and spacious sites, and very convenient stop over off Highway 50. Come in with a full fresh tank as sites didn't have water, plus park water gets shut off late September/early October for the winter months. Convenient dump station at the campground entrance/exit.
